Chapter 1

There are three things I despise in this world: missed deadlines, office enablers, and Timothy Cullen’s dimpled, untouchable smirk.“You were supposed to get the documents from the clients,” I said, pointing aggressively at the massive bulletin board.“I wasn't aware. It was your duty,” Tim replied.“It's clearly written on the calendar, Tim!” I snapped. He leaned against his desk and gave me that infuriating smirk. I swear, one day it was going to be the death of me.Timothy Cullen and I had been oil and water ever since I started at the infamous Reijin Travel Agency. He missed deadlines, forgot basic assignments, and handed off his workload whenever possible. But because he possessed a sharp jawline and a killer smile, everyone else let him coast by without a scratch.Except me. Seniority be damned, I never let him off the hook.“You’re always overreacting, Stella,” a voice called out from the next cubicle over.“At least he's good to look at.”“Seriously, Stella, you love acting like

Five inches taller. Broad shoulders. And a chest that hummed like a heavy engine. For several seconds, my brain completely refused to process reality. “What... what did you do to me?!” Timothy screamed. Or rather, my voice screamed from inside my body, sounding like a panicked chipmunk. “I didn't do anything!” I shouted back, except the sound that escaped my throat was a rumbling, raspy baritone. It was his voice.Panic surged through my veins as the party noise suddenly felt fifty times louder. People were turning from their seats. Coworkers were pointing. If anyone saw Timothy Cullen and Stella Kingston standing beside each other, shrieking in each other's voices, my perfect worker score wouldn't just be docked—I’d be committed to an asylum.“Get away from me!” I tried to squeak, but it sounded like an engine roaring.I turned on my heel and bolted down the side alley, my long legs taking ridiculously wide strides.Every step felt wrong. My legs were longer, my balance was off, and m

I stared at the glowing gold script until the words burned into my retinas. To return to your body, you must kiss Timothy Cullen.“Kiss him?!” I roared, my voice vibrating in Tim’s broad chest like a broken foghorn. “I’d rather swallow a box of rusted thumbtacks!” Was this a sick prank, or cosmic punishment for wishing he was a waste of skin?I aggressively crumpled the parchment into a ball and shoved it deep into the pocket of Tim’s suit jacket. My brain couldn't process supernatural threats before caffeine anyway.First, I had to survive my morning routine in Timothy Cullen’s huge ass body. Showering in my apartment was a catastrophe. His six-foot-two frame barely fit under my showerhead, knocking over every single shampoo bottle. Washing my face meant maneuvering giant, heavy hands over a sharp jawline. And shaving? I nearly sliced off his signature chin dimple trying to navigate a razor. Then came the wardrobe crisis. With zero men's clothes in my closet, I was forced to wear a

We ended up at a twenty-four-hour diner two blocks from the agency. Sitting in a vinyl booth across from my own face was an out-of-body experience I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.Especially when my face was scowling in sheer misery at me, wearing an exquisite dinner dress that was now severely wrinkled and faintly reeking of exhaustion and sweat.“If you keep drooping like that, you’re going to give me a double chin,” Tim complained in my high-pitched voice, attempting to smooth down the front of my gown.“I am eating a mountain of pancakes because your stomach sounds like a malfunctioning generator,” I replied in his deep rumble, sliding another forkful of syrup-drenched food into my mouth. “Besides, you’re the one who looks like a frantic flamingo.”The waitress set down two coffee cups, giving us a lingering, bewildered look before quickly walking away. A massive guy in a baggy tracksuit eating three breakfast platters next to a woman in a ruined evening gown at eight in the mor

Moving Timothy Cullen into my apartment was a mistake I regretted almost immediately. After purchasing two pairs of oversized grey sweatpants and a baseline hoodie from a nearby department store, we officially set up base camp in my sanctuary.Or at least, what used to be my sanctuary before my own face was sprawled across my silk couch, aggressively devouring a bag of sour cream potato chips. “You’re getting salt and grease on the...,” I rumbled in Tim’s deep voice, leaning against the kitchen counter with my arms crossed over his massive chest.“It’s ours now, Kingston,” Tim retorted through a mouthful of chips. My voice sounded ridiculously light coming out of him, especially accompanied by a lazy wave of his hand. “Besides, you’re currently using my body to drink loose-leaf chamomile tea out of a delicate porcelain mug. You look like a giant grizzly bear attending a Victorian tea party.”I glanced down at my giant hands holding the fragile handle. He wasn't entirely wrong.By day t

I stared at him—or rather, at my own face looking back at me with genuine curiosity. Hearing my voice ask if I hated him while sitting inside Timothy Cullen’s six-foot-two frame felt completely surreal.I shifted in my chair, Tim’s leather jacket squeaking against my back. “I don't hate you, Tim. I hated your attitude.”He crossed my arms over his chest, tilting my head. “Then why the hyper-rigid, scary-boss routine with everyone else? You act like if you loosen up for two seconds, the sky will fall.”I looked down at his broad hands resting on the tabletop. A bitter laugh escaped his throat—my throat. “Because if I loosened up, nobody was there to catch me,” I said softly, the deep rumble of Tim’s voice sounding unusually gentle. “I didn't grow up with enablers or safety nets, Tim. Nobody coddled me when I made mistakes, and nobody handed me second chances. I had to work twice as hard just to be taken seriously. Being a perfectionist wasn't a choice for me. It was survival.”Tim went

The cool evening air struck Tim’s face like a bucket of ice water, but it did nothing to cool the furious, suffocating heat burning inside his broad chest.I marched down the quiet, tree-lined street outside my apartment complex, my long strides eating up the pavement. Tim’s heavy sneakers slapped against the concrete, echoing in the quiet suburban night.Tears of pure frustration burned hot in my eyes—or rather, Tim’s eyes—and every breath felt like inhaling broken glass.Control freak. Mechanical. Transactional. His words kept replaying on a cruel loop in my mind. I had opened up to him. I had shown him the rawest, most vulnerable part of my life—the fear, the isolation, the relentless effort it took to survive—and the moment things got uncomfortable, he threw it back in my face like an insult.“Stella! Wait! Please, just stop for a second!” My own high-pitched voice echoed down the street behind me.I paused, turning on my heel.Tim was jogging after me in my pale grey sweatpants an

The smell of cold asphalt dissolved, replaced instantly by the overwhelming scent of rain, sweet mint, and the sharp, hot ache of bruising ribs.Gasp! My eyes snapped open. I was lying on my back, staring up at the dark night sky. The pain in my shoulder and hip burned like fire, but my hands were small again. My manicured fingers were clutching the lapels of a heavy leather jacket.I looked up.Standing—or rather, kneeling—over me was Timothy Cullen. The real, six-foot-two, broad-shouldered, sharp-jawed Timothy Cullen, staring down at me with tears streaming down his own face, his dimples quivering in sheer disbelief.“Stella?” Tim whispered, his real, deep baritone trembling as he touched his own throat. “Stella... it’s you. You’re back.”“I’m back,” I gasped, a painful, tearful laugh escaping my real voice.Tim didn't say another word. He immediately gathered me into his massive chest, pulling me tight against his warmth while being careful of my injuries. He buried his face into th

The corner booth at the little Italian place was quiet and dimly lit, but my heart was beating so fast you’d think I’d just sprinted up four flights of stairs.Sitting across from me was Timothy Cullen, looking devastatingly handsome in a simple cream-colored coat over a navy sweatshirt. His sleeves were pushed up to his elbows, his dark hair fell softly across his forehead, and those ridiculous dimples of his were on full display as he slid a small dessert plate across the wooden table toward me.“What’s this for?” I asked, looking down at a single slice of warm tiramisu topped with a little strawberry.“A bribe,” Tim said easily, resting his chin in his hand and looking at me with soft brown eyes that made my chest tighten in the absolute best way. “To make sure you don't reduce my evaluation score for my first official date performance.”I tried so hard to keep my lips in a straight line, but a tiny laugh escaped anyway. “You’re insufferable.”“I’m dedicated,” he corrected smoothl

Exactly three hundred and sixty-five days had passed since I was forced to navigate life inside a six-foot-two frame with an Adam’s apple and an absurdly hyperactive metabolism. And yet, looking across the bustling floor of Reijin Travel Agency, some things never truly changed.“Stella, the regional quarterly reports are finalized,” Timothy Cullen announced, strolling over to my cubicle with two steaming coffee cups in hand.He set one down on my desk; dark roast, half a packet of raw sugar, before leaning against my partition with that same signature dimpled smile.Except this time, he wasn't dodging deadlines or handing off his workload to unsuspecting junior associates. He was officially the agency’s second-highest performing associate.Right behind me, of course. My perfect worker score remained unbroken, untarnished, and gloriously intact. “You actually finished the vendor audits ahead of schedule?” I asked, narrowing my eyes playfully as I took a sip.“Ten minutes early,” Tim cor
