Chapter 1

On the day I was released from prison, Marco came to pick me up himself. After the car pulled away from the prison, he handed me a wedding invitation."This is the design for our wedding invitation. Take a look and tell me if you like it."I took it from him and tore it into pieces right in front of him.His brows drew together. "Leah, if you have something to say, just say it. Don't start throwing a tantrum the moment you get out."I gave a cold laugh. "Sorry. Three years in prison ruined my temper.""Stop this. I've already arranged everything."Marco's expression darkened immediately. "The wedding will take place in three days. The Dons of the other Families will all be there in person."I looked at him and enunciated each word clearly."I will not marry you."The next second, Marco slammed his foot down on the accelerator. The car shot onto the highway like a bullet leaving the barrel of a gun.He drove with a grim expression while I stared blankly out the window.Memories followed

Chapter 2

I took a taxi back to the Bellini estate.I had returned only to pack my things. And to find the evidence left behind by the car accident three years ago.But the moment I opened the door, I froze.Nothing had changed. The wool rug I had chosen still covered the entryway, and my slippers were still sitting in the shoe cabinet. The thin blanket I always used was still draped over the dark green sofa in the living room.It was as if time had frozen here, leaving everything untouched like some silent memorial.I walked over to the dining table and sat down, staring absently at the photograph beside it.In the picture, I was holding up a finger covered in cream. Marco had turned his head away to dodge me, but his arm was still wrapped tightly around my waist. We were both smiling without the slightest guard, our smiles as pure as clear water.Seven years of love could not be forgotten simply because I had decided to forget.I lowered my eyes and tightened my grip on the white pill in my pa

Chapter 3

"Leah." Violetta gave the gun in her hand a small wave and laughed softly. "So you came back after all."My muscles tensed as my gaze settled on the gun.It was mine.More precisely, it was the first gun Marco had ever given me.Seven years ago, when I had just joined the Bellini Family, my very first mission ended in failure.Marco arrived at the abandoned winery, drove back the enemy, and saved me.He took a bullet in the shoulder while protecting me.I held on to him and cried like a child. He simply wiped away my tears and placed his gun in my hands."Don't cry. I'm not going to die. I'm giving you this gun.""This is my lucky gun." He forced a smile through the pain. "It will protect you in my place."Later, he personally engraved both of our initials on the inside of the grip.It was a token of our love. The gun stayed with me for seven whole years. Now, however, it was in Violetta's hands.I stared into Violetta's eyes and said in a low voice, "That's my gun.""How are you going

Chapter 4

When two bodyguards marched me into the tribunal hall, every seat inside was already occupied.Marco sat in the presiding seat, his expression cold and stern. He tapped the table. "Now that everyone is here, let's begin."Violetta's eyes immediately reddened."Leah has resented me ever since I reported her three years ago, so the moment she got out of prison, she tried to kill me.""Just last night, she even fired a gun at me. The Don saw it with his own eyes!"Low murmurs immediately spread through the tribunal hall."I can understand why Leah might hold a grudge, but no matter how angry she is, she has no right to pull a gun on another member of the Family.""I heard she suffered quite a lot in prison. Do you think something is wrong with her mentally?""Is a madwoman like her really qualified to become our Donna?"One accusation after another reached my ears, buzzing around me like flies swarming over rotten meat.I swept my gaze around the tribunal hall, a cold smile forming on my

Chapter 5

Marco's POVAfter delivering the verdict, Marco walked into the cigar room.He closed the door, leaving the tribunal hall behind him.He could not bear to watch Leah being humiliated, so he could only hide in here.It took him two attempts to light his cigar. As he watched the smoke rise between his fingers, the way Leah had looked at him kept replaying in his mind. She had not cried or become hysterical. She had been as cold as the snow at the peak of a mountain.Marco loosened his collar and took a drag from the cigar. The smoke tasted bitter and harsh, and he let out a long sigh. The Family elders and the heads of every branch had all been present. He could not openly favor Leah in front of them.Asking her to apologize to Violetta was already the greatest concession he could make. But Leah would understand him. After all, she was his Donna.A faint smile appeared on Marco's lips as he began imagining the wedding two days from now.He pressed the intercom and summoned his consiglier

Chapter 6

Marco's POVMarco did not answer. The pendulum in the hall swung back and forth while the consigliere kept his head lowered, not daring to ask again. How could there be a wedding without a bride? The thought had barely surfaced before Marco forced it down.Leah had waited three years for this wedding. There were only two more days. How could she possibly give it up?"Don, perhaps we should notify the guests and cancel the wedding."Violetta walked over to him and spoke softly."No."Marco's refusal came almost instantly. He answered so quickly that even the consigliere looked up at him.Violetta tightened her fingers around the hem of her dress before softening her tone. "The Dons of the other Families will all be attending the wedding."She paused. "What if the bride still hasn't appeared when it is time to exchange vows?"Marco's jaw tightened sharply."You'll become a joke—the Don of the Bellini Family who could not even keep his own fiancée from leaving."Marco turned sharply towar

Chapter 7

Marco's POVMarco abruptly released her.Several seconds passed before he finally found his voice."Why is it you?"Violetta's long hair hung loose around her shoulders, and her cheeks were still flushed from the pleasure of the night before. She reached out to embrace him, but Marco shoved her away.He staggered back a step, his gaze moving past her shoulder to the floor beside the bed.A white wedding gown lay there. The gown that had been prepared for Leah.Last night, he had mistaken Violetta for Leah simply because she was wearing it.Marco's expression instantly darkened."Who gave you permission to wear this wedding gown?"Violetta glanced down at it. There was no shame on her face. Instead, she laughed."Why couldn't it be me?"She sat up on the bed and slowly adjusted the strap on her shoulder."I'm no worse than Leah. For the past three years, I was the one who stayed by your side.""I took care of you when you were sick. I handled business negotiations for you. When you were

Chapter 8

I received a congratulatory message from my best friend.[Congratulations on marrying Marco today!]I stared at the message for a long time.Who was Marco? Why was I supposed to marry him?I had no memory of him at all, yet merely thinking about his name made my stomach churn.I took out the black notebook and opened it to the last page. The red ink had long since dried, and the sharp handwriting looked like a wound cut across the paper.[Never forgive Marco.]What kind of betrayal had I endured in the past to leave myself such a solemn warning before choosing to forget?I had no intention of investigating.I did not want to tear open a wound that had already scabbed over.I only needed to trust the judgment of my past self.Since the bride was missing, I assumed the wedding had been canceled.I decided to take a look.Words of mourning for the past should be spoken while standing before its grave.Just to be safe, I put on a wig and used makeup to alter the shape of my brows and eyes.

Chapter 9

Marco raised a hand and snapped his fingers. The side door immediately opened, and two bodyguards marched a woman into the hall.I raised an eyebrow. The woman they brought in was Violetta.I had forgotten Marco, but I had not forgotten her.Violetta's hands were tied behind her back, and her face was pale. The moment she saw Marco, she began trembling uncontrollably."Don, I already told you the truth! You promised you wouldn't kill me!""Be quiet. From now on, you will answer only yes or no."Marco stepped down from the altar and stopped in front of her."Violetta, you stole Leah's gun and ground away the initials engraved on the grip.""Then you fired at her first on the terrace, twisted the truth in the tribunal, and falsely accused her of attempted murder."An uproar immediately swept through the hall.Violetta shook her head in panic. "I only did it because I love you so much! Everything I did was for you."Marco sighed. He drew his gun and pressed the muzzle against Violetta's t

Chapter 10

One year later, I accompanied Leon to a meeting of the Family Alliance as his advisor.I had just placed the port agreement on the long conference table when a trembling voice came from behind me."Leah?"I turned around.A man stood beside the table, staring fixedly at me.It took me a while to recognize him as Marco and recall the bloody wedding a year ago.He almost ran toward me with his arms outstretched. The next second, I caught his wrist, twisted his arm behind him, and pinned him against the edge of the table. The room abruptly fell silent."Please keep your distance," I said coldly."It's me!" He ignored the pain in his arm. "Marco! Your fiancé!"I released him and stepped back to Leon's side."I've been looking for you for an entire year!"He stared at me, his eyes frighteningly bloodshot. "I was almost losing my mind!"Even from several feet away, I could clearly smell the stale alcohol on him.He had lost a great deal of weight since the last time I had seen him.His eyes
