I look up as Jerome pulls into the driveway of the Invictus packhouse, my heart suddenly clogging my throat. He gives my hand another squeeze and lets go as he parks the car in an empty parking spot. “Are you ready?” he gently asks me. “No. But I still want to do this,” I assure him. With a proud smile, he gets out of the car. I take a deep breath and get out, stepping into the crisp winter air. We shut the doors and Jerome opens the trunk, collecting a large satchel of Christmas presents.
