I was packing my bag when I suddenly spotted a smooth, polished bracelet engraved with Randy Foster's name.I first met him at the border during a raging blizzard. He'd been out patrolling the pack's territory when the storm hit. I followed his scent and found him.We kept each other company as we fought off the cold. He saved the best parts of his hunt for me, and I carefully fed him warm water. For countless days and nights, we huddled together for warmth and shared stories about our pasts. As we spent more time together, we grew to understand and love each other. Those days were hard, but they were also filled with warmth and tenderness. When he saw my sketchbook filled with drawings of flower-covered hills, he promised to take me across the mountains after winter ended so I could see fields of flowers in the south with my own eyes. The love Randy had shown me, along with my longing to see those flowers, made me choose to believe him. I agreed to spend the rest of my life with

The rumors became even more vicious after I returned to the pack. The gossip about me setting my sights too high by going after Randy hadn't died down, and now new rumors had started. They called me petty and jealous of Annie, saying I'd made it all up to frame her. No one listened to my explanation. To them, Annie had an extraordinary gift for healing and a good chance of getting into the Royal Healing Center. She was the pack's hope, the one who deserved to stand by Randy's side. All the hurt I'd kept to myself finally got to me. I lowered my eyes as tears ran down my face.I didn't know how much time had passed before Randy finally came in, his clothes covered in snow.I looked at him. In the past, I would have gotten up right away to brush it off for him, but this time, I didn't move.Randy said, "Annie has no one to rely on. Can't you be a little more understanding? I'm so disappointed that you actually framed her out of jealousy."I smiled bitterly. "If you've already deci

I walked away without looking back. My bag was light, as I had left all my old things behind, including the bracelet and the sketchbook. The ashes of the bouquet I'd thrown into the fire still remained in the cabin, burned to nothing along with the last bit of hope I had left in Randy. The mind-link still connected us, so I could sense his emotions even across the vast greenlands. I could feel his anger and his wounded pride. He probably thought I was throwing another tantrum, jealous of Annie and trying to make him give in by running away.He had no idea I wasn't planning on coming back this time. The road south was full of dangers, and my vision blurred the moment the wind picked up. I searched for shelter from the unforgiving weather, eating my dry food whenever I got hungry. The cold wind kept stabbing at my old wounds. As my body trembled uncontrollably in the freezing snow, memories of my time in the pack flooded my mind.I thought about the humiliation I'd suffered at the

In the days that followed, I helped the townspeople treat their wounds and sometimes sat quietly beside the flower fields, growing to love this free and fulfilling lifestyle.Every now and then, passing merchants would bring news from the Winterveil pack. I heard rumors that Randy had sent out many werewolves to search for me.But I just listened, without feeling much of anything. That day, I received a letter from Vivian. Randy had found out she'd helped me escape from the pack, but she was still safe. Though he was angry, Vivian's abilities were undeniable. She kept questioning him until he finally gave in and stopped asking."Don't worry. I'm doing fine. You'll have to take good care of yourself."I finally relaxed.Randy had grown increasingly irritable. While he frantically searched for me, Annie gathered her courage and cautiously hugged him from behind, confessing her love. "Alpha Randy, she's already left you. Why won't you consider me? I truly love you."Her words stok

Randy kept trying to win me back, ignoring his subordinates' advice, but I didn't even glance at the expensive gifts he sent me, and when he asked me to spend the next full moon with him, I didn't show up.Some chances only came once. Once they were gone, there was no making up for them.Randy sat alone under the full moon all night. Early the next morning, he quietly left town, regret heavy in his heart. After returning to Winterveil, he publicly tried Annie for all her crimes. He stripped her of her eligibility to join the healing center, took back all the privileges and supplies he'd given her, and banished her from Winterveil for good. Most of the pack took their cues from the Alpha. Everyone had once admired Annie, but after Randy banished her, they all looked down on her.Annie broke down and begged Randy not to be so cruel, but he didn't budge."I'll spend the rest of my life making up for what I did to Nora. You should pay for your mistakes too."Vivian watched it all wi
