A New Beginning

"Jenna? Honey, wake up. Our flight is landing." Mrs. Kennedy gently nudged Jenna while shoving some flight food in her handbag. Jenna's eyes fluttered at the mesmerizing sight full of clouds as the engines roared and winded into her ears, causing her to poke her fingers through it.

Eventually, the aircraft dipped down screeching forwards and making Jenna feel like her head was going to explode. Jenna shifted her head to the left, staring at her mom like she had grown another head. "What? I couldn't let the food go to waste." Mrs. Kennedy explained. Well, it wasn't really something to be surprised about since saving food had always been a habit and an obsession for Mrs. Kennedy.

"Don't just stare at me like an idiot. Wake up your brother." Mrs. Kennedy commanded, rolling her eyes at Jenna.

"Tyler! Wake up." Jenna's negligible voice echoed from the front seat. He pretended like he didn't hear her through his AirPods since he was so relaxed and switched on to dreaming mode. He just wanted to curl up and sleep more. "Tyler!" She yelled again. This time shaking him with both of her hands, gesturing him to wake up.

"Fuck off!" He moaned loud enough for people in the front row to hear and causing other passengers to stare. Mrs. Kennedy shot him a glare, making him finally move.

Everyone was rushing out of the plane like it was some sort of a marathon. "Welcome to Vancouver!" One of the pilots greeted the family of brunettes." As soon as they slumped out of the plane, carrying multiple luggages.

"Tyler I can't carry three things. You need to at least carry two." Jenna complained breathlessly between the large crowd.

Tyler turned around saying "That's your punishment."

"For what?" Asked Jenna.

"For being annoying," Tyler explained. Giving a small smirk then pacing his head back to this girl he was checking out. Jenna muttered something under her breath but Tyler was too lost to hear anything.

When Jenna gradually went down the escalator, she saw parts of Vancouver through the line of glassed windows as the sunlight huddled around her, making her feel safe. It was such a cozy feeling but a little nerve-racking at the same time. Moving into a new country and starting a new school. She had left everything behind for a new beginning.

"Mum, look there's Tania!" Jenna pointed at the redhead girl walking through the glass doors.

Tania was Jenna's cousin, they hadn't seen each other since they were seven. Tania and aunt Brenda were the only relatives Jenna had in Vancouver.

"Oh my goodness, Jenna is that you? You've grown so much!" She exclaimed after running across the airport like some crazy-ass woman. "Oh come here, give aunt Brenda a hug." Aunt Brenda commanded, squeezing Jenna tighter than ever. No wonder, why Jenna was having breathing problems.

When Jenna stepped out of the airport she saw these magnificent tall, glassed buildings of Vancouver, she was amazed by how beautiful they were since she barely saw any back in her hometown because it was well... Small.

Luckily, they already had a cab waiting outside the airport. After pushing and shoving their luggages inside the cab. Jenna squeezed into the car, plopping down on the seat towards the edge. Which was was more of a relief because she could just roll down the window and take a moment to breathe.

Jenna's eyes widened by the incredible sights floating away from the car each time. the sunlight softened as she peaked her head out of the cab. Watching the trees, swaying in a warming breeze.

After a while, the wind came rushing in her direction. She realized how dark it was getting. It sure did take a hell of a lot of time to get to Tania's house.

Finally, Jenna arrived at her aunt's house after waiting in the cab for two hours. "And there's your tip." Aunt Brenda added.

"A tip?" Jenna curiously asked.

"Oh yes, in Canada you need to give a tip for everything. Except, for grocery stores and shopping malls." Aunt Brenda replied. Wow, few hours in Canada and she's learning things already.

"Tomorrow is the first day of school and I still don't know what to wear," Jenna complained while slumping herself against Tania's bed.

"I don't know, just wear sweat pants or something," Tania suggested. Grabbing some of Jenna's clothes out of her luggage.

Jenna released a deep breath and revealed "I just want to fit in. What if they make fun of my clothes or accent?" So many concerns scattered around her brain. She had never looked so nervous for school before.

Back in England, Jenna had to wear a uniform to school, where the teachers had to tell the girls to constantly pull their skirts down plus the school Jenna went to was an extremely strict Catholic school but in here you get away with wearing shorts and a crop top to school.

"Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. I'm telling you, no one would care, not in here." Tania explained.

Jenna looked down, thinking about her best friend Stacy back in England. Stacy always knew how to put a smile on her face, just having Stacy with her on the first day of school, would've made it so much easier. "Stacy has always been the talkative, confident one maybe she would know, what to do in a situation like this. Wait, Stacy! I should facetime her and let her know that I've arrived" Jenna alterted.

"Hi!" Stacy beamed in her thick British accent. Looking preppy and polished as always.

"Hey, I've just arrived in Vancouver and I'm at my cousin's house and I'm trying to pick an outfit for school, I don't know what to wear and I don't know if I should keep my British accent plus school is tomorrow, I'm freaking out! I don't know what to do." Jenna expressed breathlessly.

"Calm down, I know this will sound corny but I think you should just be yourself because from what I know Canadians are polite people and they have a really friendly community," Stacy stated the stereotypical assumptions to ease her best friend's distress.

"Yeah... my cousin said something like that," Jenna recalled.

"See, it should be fine, your cousin has been living there for years and you are going to the same school as her," Stacy reassured while hugging her pink velvet cushion.

Stacy smiled sweetly. "Remember, what I always say, don't follow the trend, create the trend-"

"You're so selfish!" A mans voice echoed from Stacy's background. Jenna immediately recognised who it was. Jenna noticed how Stacy's eyes widened as soon as she heard the voice.

"Umm.. like I was saying." She hesitated. "Your British accent is fine plus you're a really funny person.

"Smash!" Stacy's heart nearly thumped out of her chest as Jenna slightly bounced backwards.

"Stacy is everything okay?" Jenna's concern was clear in her voice.

"Jenna, I've.. I've got to go. Stacy's voice was shaking and she squeezed her pillow really tightly. The drop of year was so visible on the screen.

The call ended leaving a Jenna completely silent ghost silent. Stacy had told her that her parents were having issues but she didn't think it was that extreme.

"What was that?" Tania was shook. Jenna had completely forgotten that Tania was behind her all along. She twisted her head around observing how Tania's jaw was practically on the floor.

"She just has some family issues." Jenna shrugged as they both go back to being silent for a bit.

"So... she made a good point don't you think. You just need to be yourself." Tania broke the silence.

"Easy for you to say," Jenna mumbled. Even though, she appreciated how hard they were trying to make it better for her.

"I know the first day of school can be nerve-racking but think of the bright side. You get to have a fresh start and make new friends plus you got away from that horrible girl you mentioned that from your old school." Tania tried to cheer her up.

"Well, I guess that's a good thing." There was a sudden rise on the corner of her lips. "But not for Stacy." She concerned.

During dinner, all Jenna could think about was Stacy "What was wrong?" "How is she doing?" "Is she okay?" Jenna didn't really her family situation was that serious. She really wished that she was there for Stacy. She barely even touched her spaghetti, which was very abnormal for Jenna.

Tania and aunt Brenda left Jenna's house after shoving their dinners down their throats. Jenna and her family were lucky that they bought their house before moving in or else they would've had to stay at Tania's house and drag their luggages around again after they finding a mew home.

after helping her mom and Tyler clear up the table and watching the dishes. Jenna finally headed towards her room. She stood by the door as her eyes scanned the entire room. Everything in the room was white. The bed the desk cupboard and her wallpaper ofcouse. This house came fully furnished. And Jenna really liked it. It was the perfect size for three of them. Even her room was the perfect size. Not too big. Not too small.

Jenna slumped onto her bed. Finally relaxing her back from all that cleaning. Her eyes slowly started to close and she could be her muscles relax until.

"Ringgg!" Jenna jumped slightly in her positing, realising that it was a call from Stacy. Jenna slid her thumb across the screen and put it against her ear. "Hello." Her voice sounded like it was dying from being tired.

"H-hello." Stacy's voice was croaked as if she was crying.

"What's wrong Stacy?" The air felt thick with tension.

Stacy released a huge breath. "My dad has been taken to jail."
