I lean on concrete, modern details: group texts with read receipts, security cameras that are accidentally ignored, a meal plan card that won’t open a door. Those anchor the prank in the present and make even silly ideas plausible. Also, tone matters: if the narrator loves chaos, the prose is breathless and insider-y; if the narrator regrets things, the pacing slows and consequences are examined. End with fallout — an embarrassed apology, a viral photo, a new tradition — because believable pranks ripple outward. That’s how I keep them clever, readable, and true to campus life; it’s fun to write and even more fun to watch characters reckon with what they set in motion.
