Ever have those days where a quote lodges in your brain like a soundtrack? When I’m feeling untethered, I think of Chihiro’s 'Once you’ve met someone, you never really forget them' from 'Spirited Away.' It’s bittersweet but comforting. For sheer sarcasm, Deadpool’s 'Life is an endless series of train wrecks with only brief commercial-like breaks of happiness' is my go-to. And when I need a reality check, Daria’s 'I don’t have low self-esteem; I have low esteem for everyone else' from the '90s show nails it. Quotes are like emotional shorthand—they say what I can’t.

Sometimes, a single line from a book or show just clicks with how I'm feeling. Like when I'm overwhelmed, I hear Gandalf's 'All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us' from 'The Lord of the Rings'—it’s oddly grounding. Other days, when I’m restless, it’s Luna Lovegood’s whimsical 'Things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end' from 'Harry Potter.' It’s like the universe nudging me to chill.
On darker days, I lean into quotes like Rustin Cohle’s nihilistic monologues from 'True Detective'—'Time is a flat circle' feels fitting when life loops in frustrating patterns. But for pure joy? Nothing beats Uncle Iroh’s 'Life happens wherever you are, whether you make it or not' from 'Avatar: The Last Airbender.' It’s a reminder to stop waiting for perfect moments and just live.

Quotes are my mood rings. If I’m feeling nostalgic, I’ll replay Yukino’s line from 'Oregairu': 'If truth is the enemy, I’ll fight truth.' It’s dramatic, yeah, but it captures that teenage defiance I still cling to. When I need motivation, it’s Kamina from 'Gurren Lagann' roaring 'Believe in the me that believes in you!'—corny as hell, but damn if it doesn’t work.
For quiet reflection, I circle back to literary stuff. Murakami’s 'And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through' from 'Kafka on the Shore' hits different after a rough week. And when I’m just done? Geralt’s 'Evil is evil, lesser, greater, middling' from 'The Witcher' sums up my exhaustion with moral gray areas.

In the madness of life, we find the madness of life in ourselves. We are a reflection of the madness of life. We are the embodiment of a crazy life.
“I don’t like you,” I tell him.
Fredrick smiles like I just said something funny. “That’s not true.”
“Yes, it is,” I deny.
“No,” he says softly, stepping closer, “you just don’t want to understand me and admit it.”
I laugh. “I understand you perfectly. You’re annoying. You’re always right. And you make everyone look bad.”
He looks right into my eyes. “And yet… you keep looking at me.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I thought my biggest enemy was Fredrick Larsen. My perfect, annoying coworker who always wins every fight.
We fight in every meeting. We argue over every project. I just can’t stand him.
But at night, I become “A”. A secret writer who writes stories under a secret name. And I talk to a stranger who is one of my followers online called “K”.
His words feel like magic. He sees deep into my heart, understands my fears, and makes me feel things I’ve never felt before.
We share secrets, dreams, and even our hidden desires. Slowly, I start falling for this stranger I’ve never met.
But I received the greatest shock of my life one night at the company party where I accidentally saw Fredrick reading something on his phone with keen interest.
I moved closer and saw my story open on his screen with my apple profile picture right there.
My stomach drops.
Now I know the truth.
“K” is Fredrick.
The man I fight every single day… is the same man who made my heart race every night.
Fredrick raises his head and steps closer, his eyes burning into mine. He smiles like he already knows everything.
He tilts his head, calm as ever, but his voice is softer now. “Should I call you A… or Dylan?”
Now everything is changing...with everyone of us sweeping under the carpet the scars of yesterday's sins. Those scars are what kept me alive until you are all born to hear the story. The world government was powerful and taking advantage of the human colonial minds, they buried our freedom and equity. But now that we the Elites whom they educated and rose to revolts against the fingers that had fed us... What do you call it? Oh! yes they had termed it Rebellion. They did call us rebels, for seeking a small ration part of the best that nature has given to mankind. Al-sural-tu-Nas.
This for mankind, tell ye that the beast you trained in the dark had turned to an angel in the day. We are filled from the pot of lies now that our bellies cannot contain what they obtain, the promises that were compromised, treaties that were breached, least they covered the black mails and lies with a blanket of Diplomacy. But now is the snatch of the gallon beer from the drunkard because now there is what when diplomacy fails.....is war. "Now we are free." Later in the future a seed germinates bearing fruits of the YESTERDAYS as she possess the abilities to time travel and set broken pieces together but this has consequences in the future of mankind. At my husband's book launch, the young woman beside me leaned in close. "Are you a fan of Professor Gyver too? I don't think I've seen you here before."
Julian and I had kept our marriage private, so I shook my head. "I was just passing by. It sounded lively in here, so I came in to look."
She noticed the white cane by my feet, and understood at once.
Onstage, the host asked Julian where the book had come from. He looked toward my side of the room, and his voice went soft.
"I promised the person I love that we'd watch a sunrise together. It never happened, for various reasons. So I wrote the regret into the book."
When it ended, applause filled the hall. The girl beside me went bounding up and threw herself into his arms.
"Professor! The book's out. When are you taking me to see that sunrise you promised?"
My smile froze on my face. The sunrise was mine. It had always been Julian's promise to me.
Julian ruffled her hair, helpless, let his eyes sweep past me from across the room, then took her hand and left.
He didn't know I could see again.
That was the only reason I'd come. To tell him that the sunrise we'd waited so long for was finally ours to watch.
He'd always said the auditorium was too crowded, that he couldn't find me. So I'd wait alone until every light went out, then leave with my cane.
He could find me. That was never the problem. He just wanted a different girl beside him when the lights were on him.
I dropped the plane tickets I'd bought for him into the trash.
The sunrise doesn't wait. Neither do I.
Happiness is a luxury, why didn't God let me receive it, or because my fate was so unlucky that I didn't receive love and protection in the first place?
So maybe I have never found my happiness and home so that I can understand how sacred that feeling is, so I appreciate it so much.
"Hurry up and go, live like a normal person, have a normal life. Be like everyone else, laugh when you're happy, cry when you're sad. Feel those emotions."
"Chen, hold my hand, are we a family now?"
"It's okay, Clause Chen, I promise to never deceive or harm you. Come back here, from now on this will be my home, your family."
The child still stood there silently looking at the outstretched arms in front of him, neither saying anything nor taking it.
What are emotions?
What is love?
Rain has fallen! Perhaps God is crying for that child or is he crying for the child's journey ahead with no hope left?
Reign Abbot is a reporter, who is trying to navigate through life while in a toxic work environment with Bethany, who seemed hellbent on making life miserable for her. Driven by ambition and the overwhelming urge to surpass Bethany, she covers a story on the billionaire, CEO, Ivan Hamilton without further verification. “ Why? ” he smirked. “ Do you feel wrong? You think it's unfair? ”
I felt tears fill my eyes at his words. I hated how easy it was for me to cry. If I was sad, I would cry. Angry? Cry. Happy? Cry. Overwhelmed? Cry. And I had never hated it as much as I did in that moment, especially when my oppressor looked delighted at the sight of my tears.
I hate this man.
“ What do you want me to do? ” I asked, admitting defeat. There was no need to hold on to hope that was not there. Ivan was not a nice man and it was my mistake for thinking otherwise.
“ Good, that's what I want to hear. ” he said, standing up and burying his hands in his pocket.
Life has a way of brightening up when the sun's shining, and I can't help but feel inspired by quotes that capture that essence. One of my absolute favorites is, 'Do what makes your soul shine.' It's a gentle reminder to soak in those happy moments and indulge in whatever brings us joy. For those perfect sunny days, another great line that resonates is, 'Every day is a new beginning. Take a deep breath, smile, and start again.' It's all about fresh starts and embracing the beauty around us.
On a lighter note, when I'm out enjoying nature, I find myself thinking about 'The sun is shining, and so is my soul!' It's those moments that remind me how vital it is to appreciate the little things. Whether it’s a walk in the park or sipping my favorite coffee while basking in the sunlight, these quotes resonate deeply with me, creating an uplifting vibe that I cherish on beautiful days.
