La deuxième façon d’y voir les choses, plus nerveuse et plus directe, vient de quelqu’un qui a alterné lecture et binge-watching. La saison 3 garde l’essentiel de la trame : Claire retourne au XXe siècle, Brianna et Roger vivent leurs drames, et Jamie traverse des années de lutte avant la réunion. Mais la série raccourcit des pans entiers du récit de Jamie en mer et condense les années en épisodes clés. Là où le roman prend son temps avec des scènes de contrebande, des nuances de loyauté, et des personnages secondaires très fouillés, la télé préfère couper, bouger la caméra, et focaliser sur le ressenti immédiat.

Autre différence notable : la série donne une visibilité plus grande à Roger et à son enquête, tout en simplifiant certaines intrigues secondaires pour que la narration reste fluide.
