The meta-answer is that the 'complete order' is constantly changing. New short stories appear in anthologies. The author occasionally writes new 'declassified' files on their website. There's talk of a new novel following a different character.
So any list is a snapshot. The true complete order for a die-hard fan is to follow the author and publisher, grabbing new pieces as they're released and slotting them into the timeline as best you can. It's an ongoing, living series, not a closed canon. So maybe start with the core trilogy now, and by the time you finish, the fandom might have settled on a new consensus for where the latest piece fits.

Everyone's listing titles, but missing the crucial detail: some spin-offs are out of print. 'Red Sector Down' is notoriously hard to find in physical form. The digital shorts are only available bundled in the 'Gray Winter' e-collection now.
So a practical, complete order for someone who wants to actually acquire them is: Get the trilogy box set. Then get 'Hunter's Gambit' as an ebook or paperback—it's still in print. The 'Red Sector' books are best bought as ebooks unless you hunt used markets. 'Origins: Prague' is readily available. For the shorts, just get the 'Gray Winter' digital collection. The audio dramas are on Audible and Spotify. Adjust your reading order based on what you can actually get your hands on.

Is there even an official word on this? Last I checked, the author has given conflicting answers in interviews. Sometimes they say publication order, sometimes they suggest chronological for the full backstory experience. The publisher's website lists them by release date, but that was before the digital shorts were compiled.
I think the fandom has collectively decided on a hybrid order. Most wiki guides now suggest: Main Trilogy > Hunter's Gambit > Red Sector Duology > Origins: Prague > Gray Winter collection. The audio dramas and graphic novel are listed as supplemental. Until the author or publisher releases a definitive timeline, that hybrid order seems to be the accepted 'complete' sequence among serious fans.

Jack Saunders wanted one last hurrah before taking the mantle of DS Oil & Gas, the billion-dollar company that his father founded. His friend, Owen, let him borrow his mansion on a tropical island so that he could throw a final party before “marrying” the business that would dominate the rest of his life. He brought his secretary, Brandy, hoping that he could kindle a relationship that would last through the long days and nights of running a company. However, while the party was great, the gold digging woman he brought was not, and Jack resigned himself to a lifetime of loneliness.
That was until he took a walk down the beach and met her. A woman who didn’t recognize him from the tabloids and only saw him, the man behind the money. Of all the women Jack had ever met, there was nobody like Emma LaRue. With one pretend marriage ceremony, she would change his life forever, and become the only one he ever wanted to give his saltwater kisses to.
This novella is the first half of Saltwater Kisses written from Jack’s point-of-view, with a few bonus scenes thrown in as well.
“ I would do it again… to climb out of Hell, if it would again lead me to you” 🔥🔥
“I’m yours forever. And if you burn, I want to wither and writhe with you. To scorch and burn with you inside of me. I’m not looking for tenderness. I need the beast that fights for me… that would die for me. And I will go on dying for you.” 🔥🔥
As Julian stalks the snow in search of his next kill, his arrow pierces not a silver wolf, but a woman, barely clinging to life. As he tries to save her, he realizes there is an unknown world of wolves and shifters just beyond the forest.
Having escaped her sadistic mate, Fiona flees pack life, in turn falling into the arms of a human. But little does she know her mate will not allow her to fall for another.
Hunter & the Silent Wolf
Snow was determined to break the mould. She was going to be the first woman in her long family line not to join The Academy and become a Vampire Hunter. She was set on this ever since she could speak.
But when her mother is killed by a Vampire when Snow is only 12 years old, everything changes. Snow is renowned in the Hunting world,. She's only 28 years old and her kill count is one of the highest they have ever seen.
Little do they know the only kill count they have access to is the contracted kill counts that are recorded. She's almost double that number of un-contracted kills. Revenge is the only thing she ever thinks about, and who can blame her?
Her next kill is Damien… Mr. Edge Enterprises. He's a high priority kill with a 3 million dollar payout. Something is different about him though, something Snow can't quite place.
Killing him would prove to be a lot more difficult than she expected. There is much she doesn't know when it comes to Damien… And even more that he isn't telling her.
To make things worse, she finds out that The Academy is harboring a multitude of secrets… Snow has to make an inherently difficult choice.
Will she choose the man she barely knows, and is supposed to have already killed? Or will she choose The Academy? The place who took her in after her moms death, and taught her everything she's ever known?
Follow us as we traverse the mind of a woman scorned. Who's hellbent on revenge while she tries to justify the feelings she shouldn't have, for the man who she should have already killed. Rating 18+ for language, violence, and graphic sexual content.
I vaguely recall a seventh book being discussed in old forums, but I think it was a rumor or a misprint. The consensus among collectors is firmly six. 'Dark Justice' has a very final feel to it, resolving Dillon's main conflict with a certain villainous organization. Later books sort of soft-reboot the status quo.
If you're a completionist, stopping at six gives you a perfect, contained story. Reading onward is enjoyable, but it's a new phase.
Can we talk about how the ebook collections sometimes default to alphabetical order? That's the worst. New readers get 'Crimson Codex' first because it starts with C, but that's like book 5. Platforms really need to let publishers set a series order. Until they do, always manually check the publication date or series number on the copyright page. Don't trust the store's 'series' listing either; I've seen them wrong.
The wikis are your friend, but cross-reference them! I found three different 'official' publication orders on three different fan sites. One was clearly based on US hardcover dates, another on UK paperback dates (which sometimes came first!), and a third included digital serialization dates. The discrepancy usually lies with the short fiction.
For maximum accuracy, I'd use the Internet Speculative Fiction Database (ISFDB). It's a bibliographic database for genre works, and it's meticulous about recording first publication venues and dates. Search for the author's name, find the Jack Hunter series listing, and you'll get a clean, academic-grade timeline. It's the most reliable method I've found outside of contacting the publisher's archives.
I envy anyone starting this series fresh. You have so many choices! You can follow the clean, modern origin, or dive into the messy, glorious past of the older books. You can listen or read. You can be a completionist or a sampler. The fact that there's debate means the series has enough depth to warrant it. Don't stress. Pick a direction and start. The books are the fun part, not the lists.
The order is the same, but fan discussions might reference 'audio-first' listeners versus 'print-first' readers. Some plot twists were perceived differently because the narrator's tone gave things away earlier for audio listeners. In a late-book reveal about a mole, some readers were shocked, but some audio listeners said 'I knew it from his voice in chapter 2!'.
So, while the timeline of events is identical, the distribution of clues might feel different due to performance. This leads to minor debates in the fandom about the 'best' order, but it's all about subjective experience, not factual sequence. For the record, I'm team print-first, but the audio performance is superb either way.
