What Is The Complete List Of Lisa See Books In Order Of Release?

Picked up "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan" at a used bookstore and now want to collect the full Lisa See bibliography. Her historical fiction about Chinese families is incredible, so I'm hoping to read the series in the correct chronological order.

The mother-daughter theme is the backbone. 'The Tea Girl' is the ultimate expression of it. A daughter given away, a mother searching across decades and continents. It hits differently if you're a parent. That one will stick with you long after the 2017 publication date fades from memory.

Hmm, I think I've read one or two, but I can't remember the titles. Which one has the footbinding again? Maybe I should start there.

The early 2000s were a weird time for book covers. The original 'Dragon Bones' paperback looks like a Dan Brown knockoff. It's amusing compared to the elegant, artful covers she gets now. The content inside, though, is pure See.

Oh, I've seen 'Snow Flower and the Secret Fan' at the store forever. Is it part of a series, or are they all separate? The cover is beautiful.

What is the complete list of Lisa See novels in order of publication?

My book club did a Lisa See deep dive last year, so we had this list pinned. It's definitely: 1. 'Flower Net' (1997), 2. 'The Interior' (1999), 3. 'Dragon Bones' (2003), 4. 'Snow Flower and the Secret Fan' (2005), 5. 'Peony in Love' (2007), 6. 'Shanghai Girls' (2009), 7. 'Dreams of Joy' (2011), 8. 'China Dolls' (2014), 9. 'The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane' (2017), 10. 'The Island of Sea Women' (2019), 11. 'Lady Tan's Circle of Women' (2023). We read them in that order and it was a great experience.

Can we take a second to appreciate how prolific she is? To have a list long enough to cause confusion is a testament to her output. We're lucky to have so many books to sort through! Most of the suggestions here are great. My personal vote is for the Fantastic Fiction website. It's clean, ad-free-ish, and just gives you the facts: title, year, series note, and cover art. It's my bibliographic bible for any author.

What is the chronological order of Lisa See’s historical novels?

I'm waiting for someone to post a beautiful infographic. A simple list in a Reddit comment doesn't do it justice. I want to see the timeline with book covers and a one-sentence summary. Until then, I'll just keep my dog-eared copies on the shelf in the order I read them, which is its own kind of personal history.

Can we talk about how great the titles are? 'Legal Tender', 'Dirty Blonde', 'Killer Smile'—they all have that punchy, catchy quality that just screams airport paperback in the best way. You know exactly what genre you're getting.

Which Lisa See books should I read first to follow recurring characters in order?

Hmm, I'm not sure I agree with pushing 'Snow Flower' first just because it's popular. If your stated goal is following recurring characters, you should go straight to the source: 'Shanghai Girls'. Jumping in with a standalone might make you impatient if what you really want is a continuing saga. The emotional payoff in 'Dreams of Joy' relies entirely on the foundation built in the first book. Treat those two as a single, long novel. Once you've finished that story, you'll know if you're invested in her writing enough to explore the other, unrelated books. They're all great, but they won't give you that 'what happens next' feeling.

What is the complete list of Lisa Gardner DD Warren books in order?

Book series order questions are my jam. For Lisa Gardner's DD Warren, it's a clean dozen. In order: 'Alone', 'Hide', 'The Neighbor', 'Live to Tell', 'Love You More', 'Catch Me', 'Fear Nothing', 'Find Her', 'Look for Me', 'Never Tell', 'When You See Me', and 'One Step Too Far'. I love that Gardner released almost one per year for a long stretch—it made the wait between books bearable. The settings shift around Boston, and you get a real sense of the city's different neighborhoods. If you're an audiobook person, the narrator for most of the series is excellent and really captures DD's dry, persistent tone. Starting from the beginning lets you appreciate the evolution of both the writing style and the character's voice.

The definitive order, including the screenplay books, is as follows. 1997: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. 1998: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. 1999: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. 2000: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. 2003: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. 2005: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. 2007: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. 2008: The Tales of Beedle the Bard. 2012: The Casual Vacancy. 2016: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them AND Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. 2018: Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Note that 'Cursed Child' is a script, not a novel, and the two 2016 releases came out within months of each other.
