I stare at her, almost laughing. Isn't that funny? Falcon just happens to be my arranged mate. I pull out my phone and press the call button. "Hey, Falcon. Your adorable childhood sweetheart just stole the Luna crown I'm supposed to wear for the mating ceremony. What do you think I should do about that?"

On her first day at the negotiation table, she smiled as she drew the edge of a playing card across an enemy’s throat. After that, everything changed. Dante started calling me spoiled. When he left me standing alone in the rain to walk Serena home, Matteo and Adrian warned him, “Dante, if you choose her now, don’t regret it later.” But soon, Matteo fell for her too. At my birthday party, I turned to Adrian, the only man still standing beside me. “Adrian, is this my fault?” He kissed my hair. “Don’t think like that. Those two are idiots.” Then I watched him pin the blue diamond brooch he had promised me onto Serena’s gown. Just to make her smile. That was when I finally understood. I was the one who had to leave. I knocked on my brother’s study door. “The Vescari family’s exchange arrangement begins in three days, right?” Lorenzo looked up. I said, “Send me.”
