Honestly? A pleasant, non-distracting autosave animation. I know it's weirdly specific, but some platforms have these jarring spinning icons or progress bars that pull your eye. The best ones save so silently and seamlessly you never even think about it. It just works, which is the highest compliment for any tool.
Integration with other tools. Can it easily hook into your reference manager, your cloud storage (beyond its own), or your distraction-blocker apps? A platform that exists in a walled garden is limiting. The best ones play nice with the rest of your digital ecosystem.
A dark mode that's truly easy on the eyes for night writing. Not just a simple color inversion, but a carefully designed dark theme with proper contrast that doesn't cause eye strain over long sessions. My productivity literally doubles when I'm comfortable.
The undo/redo history length. It might sound minor, but if you realize you deleted a perfect paragraph 200 edits ago, a deep undo stack can feel like a miracle. Some platforms limit this to save memory, but for creative work, a virtually infinite undo is a safety net.
The community or ecosystem, but cautiously. Some platforms have built-in communities for beta readers, writing groups, or sharing snippets. This can be invaluable for feedback and motivation, but it needs to be optional and well-moderated to avoid becoming a distraction.

This author once failed as a heroine… and returned as something entirely different.
Not as a savior.
But as the villain.
And she didn’t come back empty-handed.
She brought secrets.
She brought sins.
She brought a story that was never meant to be read.
Sinners & Saints is not just a collection of dark romance stories—
It is a confession.
A warning.
And a door best left unopened.
Within these pages lie twisted love stories where desire and destruction walk hand in hand, and every choice comes with a cost.
So the question is simple:
Will you turn away…
or step inside anyway?
When the apocalypse came, she lost everything. Starving, hunted, and desperate, she trusted the one man she loved… only for him to betray her in the cruelest way possible. He stole her last supplies to please another woman and left her to die in a sea of the undead.
But death wasn’t the end.
She woke up days before the world collapsed.
After cutting ties with her ungrateful ex and his parasitic family, a mysterious voice awakens in her mind, LUS, a Level-Up System designed to help her survive the coming end.
With knowledge of the future and a system guiding her every move, she begins to prepare. She stockpiles resources, builds a base, and learns how to fight back against the horrors that once destroyed her.
And when the apocalypse arrives again… she’s ready. But survival isn’t the only thing waiting for her in this new life.
A silent killer who watches her like prey.
A manipulative genius who wants to unravel her secrets.
A gentle protector who sees the girl she hides.
And a dangerous man who thrives in chaos.
As the world burns and power shifts, they’re all drawn to her, each with their own motives, each with their own darkness. Even her past refuses to stay buried.
Because now, the man who once abandoned her is back, broken, desperate, and begging for a second chance. Too bad she has no time for regrets.
Not when she’s busy rising to power… and building a kingdom in the ruins of the world.

The learning curve is a feature, for better or worse. Incredibly powerful software often requires a significant time investment to learn. Is there a robust library of tutorials, an active user community, or good documentation? I'm willing to climb a steep curve if the payoff is immense efficiency later. But sometimes, a simple, intuitive tool that you can master in an afternoon is the right choice. You have to honestly assess how much time you're willing to spend learning the tool versus writing in it.
Let's talk about the library view. A visual, customizable bookshelf that shows covers in a pleasing layout is so much more inviting than a boring list of filenames. The ability to fetch missing covers automatically, or manually set custom ones for fan projects, makes your digital collection feel personal and loved. This visual management might seem superficial, but it directly impacts your excitement to browse and pick your next read.
Notification granularity is a sanity saver. I need to be able to turn off promotional notifications entirely while keeping chapter update alerts for my followed series. Even better, being able to set 'do not disturb' hours for all notifications.
An app that respects my attention and allows me to tailor its interruptions will stay installed. One that spams me will get notification permissions revoked or be uninstalled, no matter how good its library is.
