I also like to consider the placement of the lamp. Having it at eye level while sitting up in bed makes such a difference. I positioned mine slightly behind my pile of pillows, so it casts a gentle light without creating any glare on the pages. If ceiling lights are too bright or directly overhead, I flick those off and rely solely on my lamp to create that intimate atmosphere. Throw in a fuzzy blanket, and it turns into a mini sanctuary where I lose track of time in my favorite books. Lastly, I always keep a string of fairy lights draped along my headboard.
