Bell, Welf, Lilly, Mikoto, and Ouka are the core expedition team. Asfi joins as an outside helper with crucial resources. The Juggernaut is the overwhelming threat that forces them to evolve or die. Welf's personal struggle with his heritage provides the emotional backbone amidst the physical struggle.

The cast really starts to gel in this volume, focusing mostly on the expedition squad. Bell Cranel's front and center, obviously, grappling with the weight of being a leader after his level up. Welf Crozzo gets some fantastic moments too; his magic swords become crucial, and we see his internal conflict about using his family's craft. Mikoto Yamato's spiritual sensing abilities are highlighted as the group navigates the confusing floors.
Lilly's support role is as vital as ever, but she's more in the background here. The real standout introduction for me was Asfi Al Andromeda. She's the captain of the 'Paras' familia and shows up with this cool, pragmatic air, offering the 'Grimoire' item that becomes a major plot point. Her dynamic with Bell is interesting—less personal, more of a businesslike alliance. Oh, and the Juggernaut, though not a 'character' in the traditional sense, is absolutely a key presence introduced; it's this relentless monster that forces everyone to their absolute limits.
Volume 9 spends less time on the home-base characters like Hestia or Ais and really hones in on the dungeon-crawling team and their new, enigmatic ally.

Focusing purely on new faces or those thrust into the spotlight: Asfi Al Andromeda is the major new player. She's calm, collected, and her 'Perseus' alias fits. She provides the tools (literally) that change the game. The Juggernaut is the other 'key character'—an irregular monster that embodies the Dungeon's wrath. Among the regulars, Welf Crozzo undergoes the most significant arc. His rejection of magic swords due to his lineage clashes with the desperate need for their power in the middle layers. That conflict defines a lot of the volume's tension. Bell's role shifts from pure protagonist to a leader making tough calls, often relying on others' expertise, which is a nice change from his solo charge mentality in earlier books.

Honestly, the key character for me in Vol. 9 was the Dungeon itself. The way it's described, with the 'White Palace' and the mist, it felt like a proper antagonist. But okay, actual people. Bell's development is the core—watching him try to step up. Welf's magic sword crafting takes a dark turn when one shatters, which was a gut-punch moment. Asfi gets introduced and she's kinda mysterious, lending them that grimoire that lets Bell learn a spell, which is huge. The Juggernaut steals the show though, it's terrifying. Mikoto and Ouka from Takemikazuchi Familia are there too, providing solid backup. It's an ensemble survival horror piece more than a character intro fest.

***Completed*** can be read as a standalone book. please note posted chapters are currently unedited.Knight of the queen or not, I am the expendable one, the one that shouldn’t be here, and the one that shouldn’t be alive. By all accounts, I should have died 13 years ago. A question I always ask myself, every time my eyes open: why am I still alive? Why did the gods let that old priestess find me so many moons ago and bring me back from the dead? Why did they allow me to live?I still wonder what my role is in this story and believe me there is more to this story than any of us know. I can feel it, see it unfolding, almost taste it. The last three years have just been a prelude to something bigger, something yet unseen and unknown. Lamia and Mathias may be the main characters, but we all had a role, an important part to play. A witch who has lived for thousands of years has grown bored with her own life and decided to leave it. Since she is an immortal, her soul cannot leave the world.
However, what she can do is transfer her soul to another body.
By a stroke of luck, she happens to enter the body of a princess.
She was considered a miracle because when the Empress gave birth to her, the princess instantly died, along with the Empress.
What the witch didn't know was that she has entered such a predicament.
She has to endure the love of the cruel Emperor and possessiveness of the crazy twin princes!
What will her life be at the hands of such a loving family?
In addition, it seems that this body contains mana that was lost in the royal family centuries ago!
Evy was a simple-minded girl. If there's work she's there.
Evy is a known workaholic. She works day and night, dedicating each of her waking hours to her jobs and making sure that she reaches the deadline.
On the day of her birthday, her body gave up and she died alone from exhaustion.
Upon receiving the chance of a new life, she was reincarnated as the daughter of the Duke of Polvaros and acquired the prose of living a comfortable life ahead of her.
Only she doesn't want that. She wants to work.
Even if it's being a maid, a hired killer, or an adventurer. She will do it.
The only thing wrong with Evy is that she has no concept of reincarnation or being isekaid. In her head, she was kidnapped to a faraway land… stranded in a place far away from Japan. So she has to learn things as she goes with as little knowledge as anyone else.
Having no sense of ever knowing that she was living in fantasy nor knowing the destruction that lies ahead in the future. Evy will do her best to live the life she wanted and surprise a couple of people on the way. Unbeknownst to her, all her actions will make a ripple. Whether they be for the better or worse.... Evy has no clue.
A thirty-year-old office lady, who got into an accident and is now trapped inside a novel series she loves. She was reincarnated into one of the side character extras of the story and meets in person the tyrant magician, the playboy prince, and the clueless female lead of the story.
Tasoshi Saya, the Supreme God of Zeronity.
He was the strongest god to ever live. A mountain of strength that could never be crossed.
On the day of his match against his opponent, the Breakers—he was suddenly transported into another world. A world filled with swords and magic.
Power? Glory? All that was lost as he entered into the new world.
Yet, despite his helplessness, the 'Supreme' God of Zeronity was excited.
Challenges that will arise from the weak, opponents whom would stand against him toe to toe—the journey begins.
Al, was thrown into another world for no apparent reason. A new world filled with magical things. However, this wasn't the first time he had been reincarnated. He thought he was just an ordinary youth, but it turned out that his identity was so extraordinary in his first reincarnation. There were his harems still waiting for his arrival. Will he meet them soon and what will happen?
I keep coming back to the Goliath fight on the 18th floor in Volume 9 because it feels like the first time Bell’s insane growth truly terrifies the people around him. The twist isn’t just that he can level up so fast, it’s the sheer panic on Ais’s face when she realizes it. That moment of genuine fear from someone he idolizes changes their dynamic completely.
Then there’s the whole Juggernaut reveal on the 27th floor. It’s less a singular twist and more a slow, dreadful unspooling of how badly the dungeon can break its own rules to eradicate intruders. The monster’s design is pure nightmare fuel, but the real gut punch is watching Bell’s party, who just survived Goliath, get systematically dismantled. It establishes a new tier of threat that makes everything before it feel almost safe.
Finally, the biggest swerve for me was the forced Level Up itself. Bell is literally broken, his body failing, and the only way out is to accept a status update in the middle of combat. The way his stats get reset to I-0 after is such a brilliant narrative device—it visually shows how far he’s pushed past his limits, but also sets him back to ‘zero’ in a way. It’s not a clean power-up; it’s a desperate, painful survival mechanism with consequences.
Volume 9 shifts gears quite a bit; it’s the big finale of the ‘Ishtar Familia’ arc. After the chaos of the Pleasure Quarter in the previous book, this one follows Bell and Hestia Familia’s full-on assault on Ishtar’s home base to rescue Haruhime. The action is relentless, with the familia fighting through waves of enemies, and there’s a major, desperate battle against the enhanced minotaur, the Black Goliath, in the dungeon.
What stood out to me was the cost of it all. It’s not a clean victory. The epilogue, where Bell visits a grieving Freya, hit me hard. She’s lost someone precious because of her own schemes, and Bell’s naive kindness in that moment creates this incredibly tense and weird connection between them. It sets up so much for the future, especially with Freya’s obsession deepening. The volume ends with Haruhime officially joining Hestia Familia, giving them a huge power-up with her level-boosting magic, which totally changes their strategic options going forward.
