How Are Lori Foster’S Buckhorn Brothers Books Ordered And Grouped?
Finished the first Buckhorn Brothers book and got hooked on Lori Foster's small-town romance series. Are the stories chronological? Need the reading order for all four brothers.

Does anyone else feel like Jordan's book gets overlooked? I feel like in discussions about order, his is just listed as number four, but his story has a different flavor. Anyway, back to your question: Ordered by publication, it's Sawyer (1999), Morgan (2000), Gabe (2000), Jordan (2001). Then the Buckhorn Ever After titles start, with the first one being 'The Buckhorn Legacy' (I think?) in 2002. So there's a clear line. Grouping them as 'Brothers' and 'Ever After' is how most fans mentally organize them.

I see some debate online about whether the 'Buckhorn Ever After' books are a separate series or not. Officially, they're a continuation. Lori Foster's website usually lists them under the Buckhorn umbrella, but they're sometimes grouped separately on retailers. The original four are definitively the 'Buckhorn Brothers.' The later books expand the town. For a purist's reading order, go: Sawyer, Morgan, Gabe, Jordan, then move on to 'Buckhorn Ever After' in its publication order. That's the cleanest way to experience the family saga as it unfolds.

I recommended these to my book club, and we started with 'Gabe.' We had a great discussion about tortured heroes without needing the prior books. Then a few members went back and read the others. So for a group setting, picking one from the brother quartet works fine. The grouping is more important for solo binge-readers who want the full narrative arc. For social reading, any entry point can spark conversation.

From a collector's standpoint, the original four are sometimes harder to find in consistent paperback editions. The later books are more readily available in digital and reprint. So the physical grouping on your shelf might be messy, but the chronological grouping in your head is clear. It's a common issue with long-running series. Just know that the reading experience is what matters, and that's beautifully organized by the author into those two clear phases.

There's a warmth to these books that's consistent across both groups. The order might help you track who's who, but the feeling is the same. Protective heroes, strong heroines, humor, and family. If you read one and love that feeling, you'll probably read them all regardless of order. The grouping is just a roadmap, not a rulebook. Let your enjoyment guide you. Start with whichever summary grabs you from the first four, and see where the journey takes you.

Riko: Another relocation, another private school. I'm used to it by now. At least this is the last time my dad's job can make me move and change schools. I just need to keep my head down and finish high school. I figured Ravenwood couldn't be any different than every other private school I've been set to. Oh, how wrong I was. No other school I've attended had guys like the Frost triplets. That's right, TRIPLETS! And I don't know why they've sent their icy sights on me, but they've ruined my plans of just going unnoticed and finishing senior year.
Frost Triplets: Ravenwood has been a never-ending bore. Because we are Frosts, people kiss our ass from students to staff. They treat us like royalty. But, of course, we aren't, just from a very old and extremely rich family. None of them know us. Hell, they can't even tell us apart. Which usually suits us fine as we swap with each other for classes we don't like or even when dealing with girls. But it still pisses us off. It's been a long time since there was a new student at Ravenwood and who could blame us for deciding to tease her.
The Princes of Ravenwood Holiday Specials: Bonus holiday content showing Riko and her boys in their happily ever after as a family of eight. The good and the bad that being a polyamorous family of eight entails.

Although she is a trained warrior and has a fierce wolf spirit within her, many dangers await in the forest. Book Two: A Choice to Survive
Book Three: A Choice Bound in Blood
Looking to get over a betrayal and layoff, Everest Prue Camara goes to the small town of Lucerne-Alpane County to find recluse, and hopefully, discover a new passion. When fate puts her up as a neighbour with a single father, Everest is determined to not fall for the handsome rancher. Especially not when his six-year-old had wormed her way up her heart already.
Mentor Gayle Calloway Jr. had always thought he was doing okay. His ranch was turning out very well over the years, Lucerne-Alpane was paradise to him and his daughter was fine, so what else could he need? The arrival of a new neighbour up the road puts the rancher's whole belief into question when he starts having feelings for her, to his annoyance.
Everest has to make the choice of succumbing to her needs and risk toying with his heart, or steering clear till her recluse was over. Mentor finds it equally hard giving in to his own passion, especially having sworn off women. Will both of them relent and find solace in each other? Especially when at play is The Rancher's Heart?
Don't forget about her anthologies and novellas! They often include early stories or crossover characters that later get full novels. For example, the 'All Riled Up' anthology has a story that ties into her broader universe.
When looking at a series list, always check if there's a related novella tucked in an anthology. Reading those in chronological publication order alongside the main books gives you the complete picture. Missing them won't break a series, but it's nice for the easter eggs.
This is one of those series where you really need a visual map. I wish I could post an image here. Essentially, you have two main trunks: the SBC Fighters (Conor, Brock, Rick) and the SBC Slammers (Simon, Dean, Bryan). Their stories are told in two separate trilogies, but the characters all know each other and appear in the background. After those six books, you get a few sequels that focus on specific couples from the Slammers line. Then, the setting shifts to Visitation, North Carolina, for another few books that bring in some of those earlier characters in secondary roles. So the order is more about grouping than a single line.
Okay, look, the 'Body Armor' series is a direct spin-off from the 'Ultimate' series. You really should read the 'Ultimate' books first, especially 'Under Pressure,' because that's where the Body Armor security agency is formed. Seeing the characters leave the fighting league to start their own business gives the spin-off more weight.
Consider the timeline of the fiction. While not perfectly aligned with publication, the stories do progress in real time within the world. Kids age, businesses grow. Reading out of order might have you jumping around in that timeline, which can be slightly disorienting if you're detail-oriented. For a seamless sense of time passing in the fictional Ohio/Kentucky setting, a roughly publication-based order is your friend.
The series really showcases Foster's shift into more suspense-driven romance. Reading in order lets you see that evolution in her writing within a contained world. The first book has a certain tone, and by the fourth, the pacing and balance of action vs. romance feel more assured. It's interesting from a craft perspective.
