The main characters in the ‘Investi-gator’ books are Gus the alligator and his best friend, Champ the crocodile. Although both are main characters, Gus is more of the star of the books and has a great detective style that is wonderful to read about. Champ is the funny character and is very loyal to Gus. Together they have lots of adventures and solve lots of mysteries. I think it is great how they enjoy their problem-solving and make it fun. They also show how great friendship is and how it can make normal life more exciting and fun to solve problems along the way.

For me, the dual protagonists were Elara and Kaelen. The way their initial enemies turned into enemies-turned-allies, and possibly even more than that, was at the heart of the story. Elara is a book-smart, naive dreamer who has no idea how to cope in the brutal politics of the dream world, while Kaelen is a cynical harden veteran, full of survivor’s guilt. It was really wonderful to see Elara slowly soften Kaelen up, and to see Kaelen slowly temper Elara’s ideals and help her to see reality. The dialogue between them was all wonderful, really – very, very sharp, with lots of subtext, and I could really see their relationship grow by brick, slowly but painfully. The rest of the cast of characters played around the edges of the two, and really, the story lived and died on the readership of these two characters. I fully believed in them both.

Wolves of the Blood Moon' is one of those web novels that hooked me from the first chapter with its raw, almost feral energy. The author doesn't just throw tropes at you—they twist them. Luna isn't your typical 'mate bond' love interest; she's manipulative and terrifying, yet weirdly vulnerable when Fang challenges her authority. And Kai's hatred? It slowly unravels into something more tragic as he uncovers conspiracies within his own hunter faction. The way these characters collide feels like watching a bloody, poetic dance.

Other women such as Drusilla Alvarado also feature in the stories and there is nothing to suggest that the Sackett world is a masculine one. Also included in the extensive cast of characters are other Sacketts including the patriarch Barnabas and his numerous descendants who followed him out to settle and develop the western frontiers of the country. Each book in the series is a separate novel but they are all all about different members of the family and so feature recurring themes of family, of struggle to succeed and of justice. L’Amour wrote all his novels with fully realized characters, faultless but brave and honorable. In the Sacketts there are characters to like for almost every kind of reader. Tell is the very quiet hero of the opening volume, adult and sure of himself while his two young brothers are not. There’s the charming, polished Orrin and the boy Tyrel who is quick with his gun.

As for me, I have been reading a fan-translated version of the novel. I am up to chapter 120, so I don’t want to write about anything that happens after that. Right now, the main protagonists are kind of on a collision course with their own ideologies. So Elena, being very human, has a pretty strong sense of morality. The way the werewolves behave can be pretty rough and Elena doesn’t understand why they do some of the things they do. On the other hand, Lucien is bound by duty to uphold these same traditions. But he loves Elena. So, that’s the central conflict of the novel. Not so much an external enemy, but more the system by which these characters live and the change that they can bring to each other, and hopefully to their world without destroying it. I just hope that the author does a good job of wrapping everything up.

The 1996 romantic comedy 'A Thin Line Between Love & Hate' has a cast of vibrant characters that really bring the story to life. The film also features Daryl Mitchell as Darnell’s equally reckless friend, and Bobby Brown in a supporting role. What makes the characters stand out is how they flip expectations—Brandi’s arc, especially, subverts the 'nice girl' trope in a way that still feels fresh. The chemistry between the cast sells every moment, whether it’s comedy or tension.

The coaches are very interesting in this story. As always with authority figures, they are portrayed in almost mythical fashion – almost as forces of nature. The reader never gets to hear the coaches’ background stories. All they care about is guarding the highly-prized cheer squad. This is typical for a kid’s-eye view of the world. To a twelve-year-old, teachers and coaches are nothing but their function. As always in this story, the characters are represented by archetypes as the main character would see them. This makes the main character herself even more vivid and central.

All the characters in ‘Warrior Fae’ are wonderful. Charity’s ‘humanity’ within all the strange fae politics makes her relatable. Her partner Ryder is struggling with his fae duties versus his growing feelings for Charity, which makes him more interesting. Devon is hilarious and has so much more to him. Titania is elegant with a very sharp edge. And the Unseelie villains are so much fun keeping the story on the edge. I feel that every character, even the background ones, are fully developed. A great read for those who enjoy kick-butt heroines and very complex fantasy worlds.
