In What Order Do Mickey Haller And Harry Bosch Crossover In The Lincoln Lawyer Series?
Been obsessing over the Michael Connelly universe, but the Bosch & Haller team-ups get confusing. Need a definitive timeline of their chronological appearances together.

The crossover isn't just for fun. It drives plot in both series. Cases from Bosch's world spill into Haller's and vice versa. So the 'order' is also a chronology of a shared fictional universe, which is incredibly satisfying for long-term readers.

I sometimes skip to their scenes on a re-read. Sue me. The legal procedural stuff in Haller's books is great, but the moment Bosch walks in, the temperature drops and the intensity ratchets up. Their chemistry is the secret sauce of the later series.

Okay, so publication order is king here. For the Haller series with Bosch crossovers: 2008 - 'The Brass Verdict', 2010 - 'The Reversal', 2011 - 'The Fifth Witness', 2013 - 'The Gods of Guilt', 2020 - 'The Law of Innocence', 2023 - 'Resurrection Walk'. Bosch appears in all of those to varying degrees.

I swore vengeance long before I swore the law.
The night my twin sister’s future was stolen, a promise was carved into my soul—to dismantle the empire of Alexander Stone, the ruthless leader of the Xander MC. Not with fists or bullets, but with patience, precision, and the law he thinks he’s untouchable from.
Now I walk in his shadow. To him, I’m a sharp-tongued lawyer with a backbone of steel—the woman he thinks can shield him from justice. To me, he’s nothing but a target. Every word I speak, every smile I fake, every late-night meeting in smoke-filled rooms is just another thread in the trap I’m weaving around him.
But vengeance has its own dangers. Somewhere in the blurred lines of loyalty and deception, I start to feel the pull of the very man I came to destroy. His voice lingers, his touch burns, and the closer I get to ending him, the closer I fall into something I can’t control.
He doesn’t know my secret—yet.
But when the mask falls, when he realizes the knife has been in my hands all along, it won’t just be a reckoning.
It will be war.
And in this war between justice and desire, I may lose more than my sister’s revenge…
I may lose myself and I don't know if I'll destroy him... or if he'll destroy me first.
I read 'The Brass Verdict' after watching the Netflix show, and it was a trip. The book's version of their first meeting is so much more tense and procedural. The show added more immediate personal history. It made me appreciate the book's approach to development: it's slower, more professional, built on demonstrated competence rather than forced familial bond. The novel lets the professional respect build organically, which in the long run feels more earned.
I’ve been diving into the Harry Bosch series lately, and the crossover with the Lincoln Lawyer happens in 'The Brass Verdict'. It’s the 14th book in the Bosch series and the second in the Lincoln Lawyer series. What’s fascinating is how Michael Connelly blends these two worlds. Bosch and Mickey Haller, who are half-brothers, team up in a way that feels organic yet unexpected. The case revolves around a high-profile murder trial, and their contrasting styles—Bosch’s methodical detective work and Haller’s courtroom savvy—create this dynamic tension. It’s a must-read if you’re into legal thrillers with a detective twist.
Wait, is it 'The Brass Verdict'? No, I think that's later, where he takes over another lawyer's practice. Let me double-check... Yeah, I'm pretty sure 'The Lincoln Lawyer' is the first one. The one with the rich guy client, right? I should re-read them in order one of these days; the details are getting fuzzy.
Hmm. I feel like I need to re-read the later books to give a good take on this. I remember the broad strokes, but the specifics of his change are kinda fuzzy. Maybe someone else can jump in with a concrete example from 'The Law of Innocence' or something?
You find Mickey Haller for the first time in 'The Lincoln Lawyer'. The beauty of that book is how it makes his professional space—the backseat of a car—feel expansive and full of possibility.
Can we appreciate the sheer consistency of this universe? Characters from old Bosch cases become witnesses in Haller's trials. Haller's legal maneuvers create headaches for Bosch's investigations. It's not just the two leads; it's their entire supporting casts colliding. Detective Jerry Edgar, Lorna Taylor, Cisco—they all get pulled into the crossover orbit. It makes Los Angeles feel like a real, small world where these people's lives are constantly intersecting.
