Assuming it's Maxwell's series, the reading path is simple. The FAQ on her website lists the chronological timeline, which matches publication order. The audiobook for 'Behind the Scenes' has a different narrator, which really highlights the shift in perspective. It's a cool production choice. Just avoid the wiki until you're done; spoilers for 'Double Feature' are weirdly easy to stumble upon in character bios.

I think the companion novel is overrated. It's well-written but tonally disjointed from the main series. My recommended order is just the two main books, period. Treat 'Encore' as a freebie on the author's website if you really need closure. 'Behind the Scenes' is for completionists only. It adds background but also a lot of melodrama that the lighter main books didn't need. Skipping it makes for a tighter, more focused romance experience.

I find reading orders for contemporary romance kind of funny. It's not like a 15-book fantasy epic where you'll be lost. You'll be fine either way. The biggest risk is a slightly spoiled surprise, not total confusion.
