I'm not sure if there's only one 'accidental wife' novel—sounds like it could be a whole trope shelf at the bookstore. I read one with that exact title by Katherine Garbera. The basic setup is a wealthy businessman and a photographer who have a one-night stand in Vegas and wake up married. Standard fare, but Garbera gives it a twist where the heroine is dealing with some serious family financial pressure, so she tries to make the 'accident' work for a while instead of immediately running for an annulment. The tension comes from them trying to navigate this forced proximity with all their baggage, him being a control freak and her being fiercely independent.
What I actually found more engaging than the central romance was the heroine's relationship with her sister. The subplot about family obligation added some needed grit to what's otherwise a pretty glossy, predictable fantasy. The ending, as you'd expect, involves choosing real love over the convenience of the arrangement. It's a comfort read, not a groundbreaking one, but sometimes that's exactly what you need.

Okay, so the plot is exactly what it says on the tin. Two people get drunk in Vegas, get hitched, and have to deal with the fallout. I've seen this premise a dozen times. The specific version I'm thinking of has the CEO guy assuming the woman is a gold-digger who set him up, so he's all cold and demanding. She's just trying to get her life back on track and this ridiculous marriage certificate is in the way.
They usually strike some kind of deal—'pretend to be my wife for this business event/my dying relative' etc.—which of course leads to feelings. There's always a big third-act misunderstanding that threatens to split them up before the grand gesture reunion. It's not high literature, but the execution can be fun if the author nails the banter. If you're looking for deep plot, look elsewhere. If you want a predictable, low-stakes emotional ride, this'll do it.

I found it predictable. From the moment they wake up hungover and married, you can map out every beat: the initial shock, the reluctant agreement to play along, the fake dates that feel real, the inevitable jealousy subplot, the crisis that breaks the facade, and the rushed reconciliation. The fun isn't in the 'what' but the 'how'—the specific quirks of the characters. Does he hate her chaotic art studio? Does she disrupt his board meetings? That's where a good version of this story lives. Otherwise, it's just checking boxes.

To him, she was a wife in name, a solution to a problem, a role that needed to be filled.

Because sometimes, the most dangerous thing isn’t loving someone too much…

Can she trust the magnetic billionaire who invaded her life and body so completely? Or is she heading for the ultimate billionaire wife disaster?
The one by L.N.? I think you're probably talking about that super trope-y but addictive one where the CEO, Marcus Thorne, accidentally marries his clumsy assistant, Claire, in Vegas after a charity gala blackout. Standard mix-up: she's just a normal girl trying to pay her student loans, he's the icy workaholic who thinks marriage is a liability. The plot really hinges on the 'contract marriage' they agree to keep up appearances for his board of directors, with the classic 'oops, we have to share a penthouse' setup.
What makes it a bit different is the subplot with Claire's freelance art—she's secretly painting these stunning murals, and Marcus's biggest corporate rival starts taking an interest in her work, not knowing she's Mrs. Thorne. That creates some actual external conflict beyond the will-they-won't-they. The obligatory third-act breakup involves a leaked photo and a misunderstanding about her loyalty, but they reconcile when he finally visits her childhood home and sees the mural she painted for her grandma.
It’s predictable comfort food, but the art element gave it a slightly fresher texture than some others in the genre.
Oh, 'My Accidental Husband' is such a fun ride! It's a romantic comedy where the main character, usually a career-driven woman, finds herself in a wild situation—she wakes up married to a guy she barely remembers meeting the night before. The twist? He's either a complete stranger or someone she's had minor friction with before. The plot thickens as they navigate this fake/forced marriage, hiding it from friends or bosses while inevitably catching real feelings. The humor comes from their clashing personalities and the absurd scenarios they get into to keep up appearances.
What I love is how the story peels back layers of their personalities. Underneath the bickering, they often share unexpected chemistry or hidden vulnerabilities. There's usually a moment where one helps the other with a personal crisis, and suddenly, the 'accident' doesn't seem so bad. The ending? Predictably heartwarming, but with enough quirky detours to make it memorable.
The whole situation was just a perfect storm of misunderstandings and chaotic energy. She showed up at this high-profile gala pretending to be someone else—just a silly bet with her friends, you know? Then he, this ridiculously wealthy CEO type, mistook her for his arranged marriage fiancée who’d ghosted him last minute. Before she could explain, paparazzi swarmed them, and next thing she knows, they’re posing as a couple to save face. The media ran wild with it, and his family basically adopted her on the spot. What really got me was how the author played with societal expectations—like, she kept trying to correct the record, but no one would listen because the 'story' was too juicy. And honestly? The accidental wedding scene had me cackling—imagine waking up in Vegas with a ring on your finger and zero memory of saying 'I do.'
The novel’s charm was in how these two polar opposites navigated the mess. She’s this free-spirited artist who hates labels, and he’s all about control and reputation. But the fake marriage trope? Chef’s kiss. The way they slowly realized they fit together despite the absurd start gave me all the feels. Side note: The scene where she tried to annul the marriage but the judge thought they were 'adorably in denial' lives rent-free in my head.
