What Is The Plot Of Hindi Bf And Who Are Its Characters?

A show that is so funny at times and we so love a side character that we can follow them on instagram? “hindi bf” is a really short, really emotional story. The central story is that of Meera and Arjun trying to be together in a world where both their families as well as their own personal ambitions are trying to tear them apart. A surprise proposal from another, surprises arguments that are leaked online, and a job offer that would take Meera away for a year are just a few of the many obstacles along the way. We see if in the end love means holding on or letting go.

There are some wonderful secondary characters too – Meera’s super witty roommate Nalini for one, Arjun’s old-school dad trying his best to learn, and a therapist who continues to brutalize Meera & Arjun throughout the story. Meanwhile, Kabir is slowly trying to redeem himself, and we get a neat backstory on the mentor of Meera’s. Overall a really well-pensed out story that had a great pace to it and I loved every one of the emotional moments that were spurred into place. The festival episodes are also stunning. Overall, “hindi bf” made me smile and reminisce for all the agonizing growing up that I did in my late-teens/early-twenties making DOODLE Doishes of awkward, passionate grown-up choices.

I just read a really cute story on ‘hindi bf’ that managed to merge a really fun rom-com with really meaningful family drama. The two main characters are Meera, a very independent copywriter, and her somewhat traditional but lovable boyfriend Arjun who is often referred to as the ‘Hindi BF’ because he is very proud of his roots and can at times be a bit of a stereotype. At the beginning of the story Meera and Arjun go on a number of really sweet dates and even make a playlist of songs for late night listening, but things start to become difficult when Meera is offered a really great career opportunity to move abroad and Arjun is pressured by his family into agreeing to an arranged marriage proposal.

From there on, the story can proceed in various directions. Meera has to make compromises, Arjun searches for the correct way to fulfill his loyalty towards his family. Their group of friends, like Rhea, who’s always realistic; Kabir, the ex-boyfriend, who still sends Meera too many texts; and Dadi, the old lady, who can be quite unexpected, all contribute to the story in their own ways and pressures the couple in all kinds of ways. A big part of the story is the way a private conversation can be blown out of proportions by social media and how Meera and Arjun are finally able to make up after a long period of time by having an honest conversation and showing each other some small acts of affection. Language, food, and festivals are treated as characters and influence the decisions of the two protagonists and help shape their identities. The story finally ends on a positive note and it feels right.

Watching ‘Hindi BF‘ felt like flipping through my diary of my twenties. The storyline was very relatable as two people try to make things work while external circumstances pull them apart. Events such as them having to go to different places for work, being pushed apart by their respective families and being reminded of past flames all take a toll on the couple. Arjun even has to battle with his pride at times. It all starts with a cute meet at a chai stall. And then you get into the deeper issues of class, language as a barrier and all the small ‘deceits’ as the couple struggle to have an open and honest relationship while neither are able to explicitly state their boundaries to each other.

The cast were real too. Arjun is a fun everyday sort of bloke who is both lovable and close minded due to his protectiveness of his family. He has customs and ways of thinking that he hasn’t fully grasped, but he wants the best for his family. Meera on the other hand is the complete opposite to Arjun. She is reckless, fiercely loving but also makes some really silly and hurtful decisions. Neha, the bossy older sister, Vikram, the conflicted cousin of Arjun, and Mrs. Patel, the lovable and eccentric neighbor, all bring their own little twists and nuances to the story and add to the complications of the characters’ decisions. There is a lot of love and forgiveness of past mistakes and of failures with parents too. The movie does not end with some sort of grand romantic gesture but instead ends with a realistic portrayal of the hard work that goes into rebuilding a relationship on the basis of trust and accountability.
