Where Can I Read Osora Webtoon Chapters Legally Online?

Question

So many official sites and apps host OsoRa Webtoon, but I can't figure out which has the latest chapters. Some translations feel incomplete, and I'm avoiding pirated scans.

I use Google to search for “’Osora’ official webtoon” to first check if it is available on known domains such as webtoons.com, tapas.io, lezhin.com, tappytoon.com etc. Usually a legal version of a webtoon has a publisher’s logo, an episode list, and translation information. Some episodes may be behind a paywall to support the creator and translator of the webtoon.

I like to check the author’s Twitter/Instagram or small personal site like Patreon or Ko-fi. Many authors link to where their series is legally hosted to buy their print volumes, and more and more libraries and ebook stores are adding licensed volumes to their collections. I like to read things the right way, like tipping a good busker that I really enjoy. Scanlations may be fast but they harm the creators of the work that you’re reading.

First, I check the official platforms for creators. As for “Osora”, I checked Webtoon (also known as LINE Webtoon), Tapas, Lezhin and Tappytoon since it’s a webcomic serially updated in English. Sometimes, webcomics are licensed to be printed in omnibus format and can be bought at Amazon Kindle, ComiXology, Apple Books etc. The official website of the publisher of “Osora” and press releases would also have information on where to read the webcomic. The creator’s social media accounts would also have links to where to read the official version of their work.

If it is not on any of the mentioned websites, I search for the name of the publisher of ‘Osora’ and the title itself, plus the word “official” in order to find the official website of the creator and/or publisher of the comic book. There might be press releases as well announcing the publication of the webcomic. Be aware of region locks as well as of websites that offer the comic for free at first but then continue with a system of coins or by episode for a fee. I personally prefer the official apps and websites of the mentioned platforms, because they are easy to bookmark and the creators get their money for their work, which is what I wanted in the first place. Finding legit copies of webcomics I read makes them taste even better.

However, some local titles might not be licensed yet in English and can be only read by Koreans and Japanese on their local webtoon platforms, such as Naver Webtoon (Korea), Line Webtoon (Japan). If it is on a paid platform, then Lezhin and Tappytoon are the places to look. Also I was curious about the legal side of webtoons a day or so ago, and it seems from the responses here that one platform is generally favored. I can see why it would be more convenient to have all webtoons under one platform. I may have to go check out Webtoon later and see what people are reading these days. Simple answer: Webtoon. A little more detail: Webtoon is available on iOS, Android, and even on the web. You can sign up for an account for free and track your progress. I believe 'Osora' is part of their catalog. You read Webtoon by scrolling through the pages, which is a very natural way to read the comic. New episodes are released every week, often on the same day every week. The way you can read the latest 3 episodes for free is by waiting a week in between each episode, or by using coins to immediately read the episode. The coins cost real money but you can occasionally get some for free by doing daily check-ins or participating in events. The system is very sustainable and there is plenty of content being created for it. In short, it's all you need for reading comic books online.

I’ve been reading ‘Lore Olympus’ online since its premiere, and the Webtoon app has only continued to improve since then. The best thing about Webtoon for comics like ‘Osora’ is that the images load very quickly, and in high definition. All of the translations are by professional translators, not by amateurs, so they read very naturally. Sound effects and onomatopoeia are also translated and styled accurately wherever they occur, which is not something that most fan sites even bother to try to do. As a result, getting your comics online on Webtoon is the best way to read them – any other way is to read an inferior version of the images that you created to be a comic. That’s the definitive version of your work.

Webtoon, the webtoon app by Naver, is the definitive spot to read Osora. I have been reading webtoons for years and it’s amazing to see how far the platform has come. First of all, the highest quality images are uploaded in the best possible format for your device. The creator updates as fast as he can if he is on schedule. Occasionally he will leave a comment on the webtoon too. Some aggregators change the order of the chapters which can ruin the entire story for you. That’s not going to happen on the official Webtoon site. It’s just a better experience for everyone. There’s a reason that it’s the intended platform for webtoons after all.

So to keep it easy just Google “Osora Webtoon” and the first link should take you to the Osora Webtoon series page on the Webtoons website. That page is well-optimized for viewing on both desktop and mobile browsers but if you have the app then that’s even more convenient. This is the safest way to avoid getting confused with other series with similar names or clicking on aggregator sites which may bring up advertisements or be mislabeled in search results. On the official page for Osora Webtoon you’ll know for sure that you’re in the right place. I always try to go to the source for any media now because it’s just so much easier in the long run.

Webtoons is your best bet for ‘Osora’ and the many many other creator-owned webtoons out there. Official site, official app, totally free to read, seamless and intuitive interface, all that jazz. If and when new episodes of ‘Osora’ drop, you can check out the series page to see, and if you’re feeling flush and want to read the most recent chapter straight away rather than waiting for tomorrow (or the next day, or….), then Webtoons offers a “Fast Pass” option for said chapters. I give my money to Webtoons for many reasons, but mostly it’s to make sure the creators of these webtoons are rewarded for their hard work so we can keep reading more amazing stories. And for that, there’s no better place to read a webtoon than on the official Webtoons site – you get the best translation, without the risk of some dodgy site ruining it for you, year after year.

Again, I recommend checking Webtoon first, as that would be the main legal avenue for reading ‘Osora’ online. Note though that where you’re located can sometimes affect what you can access on Webtoon (i.e., if you use a VPN or you’re based in a country in which ‘Osora’ is not covered by Webtoon’s licensing, you’ll get a “not available in your region” message). That said, if all else fails, you could check to see if ‘Osora’ has been posted on the Korean Naver Webtoon site — though that would require you to be able to read Korean. (Alternatively, you could wait for ‘Osora’ to receive an official regional license or for it to be printed as a physical work.) But for the vast majority of readers around the world, they can simply check for ‘Osora’ on the regular Webtoon app — and it’ll likely be there.
