For a YA pick, 'To All the Boys I've Loved Before' has a simple but iconic one. Lara Jean's secret love letters get mailed, and one goes to her sister's ex-boyfriend, Josh. The 'meet-cute' is really the aftermath—him confronting her about the letter on her front porch. It's a moment of sheer teenage panic that launches the whole fake-dating plot with Peter.
The opening of 'The Kiss Quotient' is fantastic. Stella, who hires an escort to teach her about dating, meets Michael in a hotel bar thinking he's her arranged date. He's actually there for another client, and their interaction is this perfectly awkward, charming misunderstanding. It immediately showcases her analytical mind and his unexpected kindness, setting up the whole premise.
Wasn't there a book where they meet because he's a firefighter and he rescues her cat from a tree? That feels like it should be iconic, but I can't place the title. The trope is so classic it's almost a parody of itself, but when done with a fresh voice, it's still charming.
I'm always a sucker for the meet-cute in 'Red, White & Royal Blue'—they literally knock over a $75,000 wedding cake at a royal event. It's public, it's messy, and it forces two people who already dislike each other into a fake friendship. The sheer spectacle of it creates a shared secret and a hilarious foundation for all their future bickering and bonding.
