The Heart of a Luna
Nothing that needs serious digesting, just some broth, and then I slip away into the darkness again.
I wake, at some point, and find the valley quiet. The fires are burning, the people are sleeping, the sky is pitch black. The moon never rises anymore, the stars continue to blink out, one after the other.
I hear a voice in the darkness. A woman's soft, melodious singing.
“How many injured?” someone whispers the question.
“All of them,” Lyric answers.
Get up! I scream in my head. We’re under attack. Protect your Queen.
But no words escape my mouth.
