Lou stared at it, brows furrowing as she broke into a warm chuckle. “We’re huggers around here, kid. Come here.” Awkwardly, she wrapped her arms around Max, his discomfort evident in the way his gaze darted to Hazel. “I’m Lou. Don’t know how much Haze has told you ‘bout us, but she was at my house almost every day. Used to call her the daughter I never had.”
“Yeah,” Max nodded, a smile straining the corners of his lips. “I’ve heard a lot about you guys and Will.”
