There was more to Magnus Knight than mets the eye, and Cathy found herself inexplicably drawn to unraveling the mystery that was the Alpha of Lunar Haven. Stupid. So fucking stupid to hope. The doctor's footsteps faded as he left the room, leaving Cathy alone with Magnus. Her heart raced as he slowly turned to face her, his piercing blue eyes locking onto hers. The monitors beside her bed erupted into a frenzy of beeping, betraying her spiking heartbeat for all to hear. Embarrassing. Everything about this was embarrassing. "Oh God, this is mortifying," Cathy thought, heat rushing to her cheeks. She tried to steady her breathing, but it only grew more erratic as Magnus approached, concern etched on his chiseled features. Concern. Did he actually care? "Cathy, are you alright?" His deep voice sent shivers down her spine, and the machine flatlined for a few agonizing seconds before jumpstarting into an even faster rhythm. Great. Now he knew exactly how much he affected her. Magnus frowned, a flicker of understanding dawning in his eyes. He leaned in closer, his face mere inches from hers. Cathy's breath hitched, her eyes fluttering
