The Boy who Circled Time
The station was open at all hours of the day, even as no trains ran through during the early hours of the night and the early hours of the next morning, and Lila had never understood why, until she had heard the story of how a woman had been murdered at the door of the train station and that the woman had been running to the police station from a stalker where she had been caught there, tripping over the steps of the station where her body was discovered the next day, the entire incident caught on the station cameras.
The station had originally stayed open like that for about a year, until it had begun adhering to normal closing times once more, like all other establishments, but then, the grafitti had begun, with employees coming in the morning to vandalised cameras and painted walls mocking them for their decision.
Afterwards, even as no trains ran after midnight, the train station remained open and a haven for Lila in that very moment.
She knew that if she pressed the bell, than the probably one employee, who had been unfairly saddled with this massively unfair shift, would come out, giver her the ticket that she requested, and then would usher her back out into the cold to wait on the platforms.
