Damian didn't answer immediately.
When he did, his voice was softer than Lucian had heard in months.
"Maybe it's time someone made it theirs."
They walked in silence.
Ahead, the corridor opened into the great hall, where the last of the day's light painted the stone in shades of gold and gray.
And there, framed in the doorway, stood Rowan.
He was dusted with snow, his cheeks flushed from the cold, his silver eyes bright. He was holding a small leather-bound book, one he'd probably found in the old study, and he was smiling.
