I nodded, silently.
"Plus," he continued, "Steven was always decent at public speaking. He knows how to work a room. And now that he's teamed up with Linsen Group, people see him as reliable again. Some younger girls, especially the ones new to the industry, probably don't know the full story. They just see a man who looks like he's back on top."
His words made sense. Too much sense.
I frowned, suddenly remembering all the times Steven had carefully constructed the image of being calm, steady, considerate. Even with me, it took years before I saw past it. I'd bought into the story, believed the version of him he wanted me to believe.
