The words security asleep was etched into her skin and he swore, “Fuck!” He let her go, running across the apartment and delved into the bags which had been deposited while they’d been out. He turned back to her, a pair of pistols in his hands. “I hope you know how to follow instructions, because in a minute, we’re going to be inundated with fucking angels.” Noah swept past her, checking the locks on the doors, before he grabbed out his phone and dialed a number. “Thorne. We have a problem. The angels have a Manipulator nearby.”

I muttered, tugging at the hem of the impossibly short dress Mary had squeezed me into. The fabric shimmered under the streetlights, catching every neon reflection like an oil slick.
