Liora purred. Aria didn’t blink. “He didn’t choose you, did he?” Liora’s smile faded. Her claws flexed at her side. From above, the Alpha King’s deep voice echoed. “The Blood Claim begins now.” Two stone platforms glowed with red runes in the center of the arena. “Step forward, Luna Aria. Alpha Kael,” the King commanded. “Prove the bond.” Aria’s hand trembled slightly as she placed it on the glowing rune. Kael did the same. Magic sizzled beneath her skin, threading through her bones and chest like wildfire.

Fenric moved with terrifying speed, dark claws flashing whenever he struck. Rhydan's tail lashed through the air like a whip, each blow carrying enough force to crack stone. I grabbed the hem of Felix's shirt, fixed a pitiful expression on my face, and mumbled, "I believe you, Felix." Felix's expression softened as he helped me back to my feet. Taking advantage of the fact that the other wolves' attention was still on us, I retrieved a document from my bag and handed it to Felix. "I accidentally recorded your pup's blood type as AB when I registered his information last time. The truth is, his blood type is O." Felix's face twisted as he snatched the document from me. An eerie silence descended upon the hall. Everyone knew that all the wolves of the Blackrock pack had type-AB blood, making it impossible for a pup with type-O blood to exist in the pack.

That was the truly concerning part because those people generally reacted to danger the same way stones reacted to poe

The harpoon is so large that it crushes everyone in the box. That gives me an idea. I climb back up to the rim where the launcher is, careful to avoid Tana’s fire and Kaylani’s ice. Ishir is fighting the human that was manning the launcher, so I grab it, loading another harpoon. I aim for the Commander’s box and shoot my harpoon, just as Avani lands on the arena floor and roars loudly, shaking the ground.
