A minute later she closed I* and opened a black icon on her home screen: ECHO. ECHO was an anonymous app. No names, no traces of who own the app. Just 3 rooms: Confessions, Rage Room, Secret Vault. People dumped their ugliest thoughts there and no one ever knew who posted. Beatrice had used it for months. She tapped Rage Room and held the mic button. Voice note 1: “His name’s colt and every time he opens his mouth I want to slap him. A mechanic? Talking back to me like I’m nothing? Zenni lost it if she actually likes him. Ugh!”

His fingers flew across the keys, the screen flooding with dead links, wiped records, and one silent error message after another. Julius appeared behind him. “Anything?” “Nothing that holds,” Zayne said. “But there was a name that popped up once,not Kellan but something else.” Julius leaned in. “Show me.” Zayne pulled it up, a single orphan record from a black-ops project. “Project Echo.” Selene stood just outside the room. She heard the words, but they didn’t register. “What is Project Echo?” she asked. Julius hesitated. “A ghost program, kids trained to erase their identities and become anyone. The kind of people who could disappear before they ever truly existed.”

"Agreed. We can't trust the creator." Orion appeared, their presence calming. "Echo's purpose is complex. But I'll reveal what I know." Ava's eyes locked onto Orion. "Tell us." Orion's voice dropped to a whisper. "Echo was created to maintain balance within reality. But its true potential is vast." I frowned. "What do you mean?" Orion's eyes locked onto the creator. "Echo can reshape reality. But at a terrible cost." Ruth's heart sank. "What cost?"

He cleared his throat, attempting to regain his composure. May's eyes narrowed. "Why do you always look at me like that?" she asked, her curiosity evident. Mike's brow furrowed, his eyes squinting slightly. "Like what?" May's eyes locked onto Mike's, her gaze intense. "Like you're longing for something," she said, her voice soft and gentle. "Like you're in so much pain." Mike's expression faltered, and he looked away, his eyes scanning the room as if searching for an escape.

“If we can’t secure this system, we’re dead in the water. They’ll have full access to everything we’ve built—every military operation, every secret project.” Eva’s eyes flicked to the side of the room, where a series of encrypted files lay open on one of the terminals. Something about them caught her attention. She moved toward the terminal, her fingers flying over the keyboard as she accessed the files. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw the name on one of the documents: *Project Requiem*.
