"But you didn't let it go." "I dug deeper. Found three other women who'd dated Morrison. All dead. All 'accidents.' All looked like Maggie." I pulled out a photo that had haunted me for five years. "This is what I found in Morrison's safe deposit box after he died last year." Mills took the photo. His face went white. "Jesus Christ." It was a collection shot. Twelve women arranged in a grid like a yearbook page. All young, all beautiful, all with the same general look. At the bottom, in neat handwriting: "The Collection - Phase One Complete."

"I understand." I covered my mouth, trying to will up some crocodile tears after being rejected. However, I couldn't help but burst into triumphant cackles when I heard the system notification. "Congratulations, you've unlocked a side quest. You will be rewarded two million for this quest!" said the system. 'If one confession is worth one million, then confessing to 8 billion people would—' "Do have some shame!" The system quickly nipped my idea in the bud and added a line in small text. "There's a limit of 10 million."

“Why not?” “I just… I need one last shot.” I shook my head, but I still fetched my checkbook ripping out a page, I handed it to him. “That’s another five million, Caleb. Don’t let me down. If you screw this up, you can count me out.” My tone held a level of finality as I looked him in the eye.

I push my hands into my pockets. He widens his eyes. "No. No." "A life for a life." I smile at him. "It's either today, tomorrow, or never. Times given has been enough." I pull my right hand out of my pocket to brush my hair with it as I turn to look out at the city, though the large window. "You shouldn't be unlucky to loose two things. The money you want so much and the life you've got only one to live." I swallow. "I'll get the girl at the end of it all. I have my ways." I take two step forward and admire the city further. "So think properly. Have your own ways and save those two precious things."
