Leo cheered, skidding to a halt beside my chair and thrusting the paper right into my lap. I looked down at the drawing, a soft, involuntary smile breaking across my face. It was drawn in bold, vibrant colors. In the center was a stone castle with blue flags on the turrets. Standing in the grass out front were three stick-figure people holding hands. On the left was a figure with black hair in a red dress labeled Mommy. On the right was a broad figure colored in black crayon labeled Mr. Tyson. And right between them, holding both of their hands with a yellow smiley face, was a smaller figure labeled Leo.

There was a tall, blocky man with a jagged golden crown, a woman wearing an oversized silver tiara, a small blob representing a little boy, a giant black dog with six legs, a glowing stick figure surrounded by yellow loops, and a final girl drawn with aggressively angry V-shaped eyebrows. Kael let out a long, dry sigh. "Let me guess. The one with the furious eyebrows is your long-lost aunt?"

“Super Ella?” He nodded enthusiastically. “She’s my hero.” The smile slowly disappeared from my face. “Your hero?” “Uh-huh.” “Why?” He looked at me like the answer should’ve been obvious. “Because heroes help people.” I swallowed. “She helps me when I’m sad.” Another crayon scribble. “She makes grilled cheese dinosaurs.” A second scribble. “She reads funny voices.” Another. “She never gets mad when I ask too many questions.” He looked down at the drawing for a second before adding quietly,

Xavier says, kissing her cheek. "You're gonna see mines now?" Harley says, looking up at Xavier. With a smile, Xavier kisses his nose and replies. "Yes, I'm gonna look at yours." he says, grabbing his card. He opens his card to reveal a drawing of five little stick figures of him, Christine, Kai, me, and Xavier and he drew our names above all our heads with a heart in the middle of all of us. "Thank you, bubba. I love it." he says, kissing his head and hugging all of them.

He only felt extremely itchy and kept wanting to dodge it. Candy threatened him, "Kevin, stop moving! If I draw wrongly, your face will turn into a disaster." "It's already a disaster anyway..." Kevin complained. Candy and Eleven were not too cruel to him. Each of them drew half a tortoise on his left cheek, and the other filled it up, looking incredibly funny. Tianna couldn't help but snort after seeing him. She saw Kevin's mournful look and added, "Kevin, it's okay. You look quite cute like this."

I couldn’t even hide my smile… it stretched slowly and warmly across my lips before I surrendered the board to him. He took it with careful fingers, like he was receiving something sacred. He stared at it. And I watched his face instead of the drawing. My drawing was small and cute… a tiny family holding hands under a sun, smiling. A mother… a father… and a little child between them. No crowns. No pack symbols. Just love. Just peace. Safe to say it was exactly what I wanted. A life with him and our kids, safe from chaos. “I love it,” he said quietly, eyes still on the drawing.

Brian gave each of them a black marker and flipped a timer. Hycinth was still wearing her heels, making it easier for her to reach me. I felt her draw quick lines on my cheeks and above my eyebrows, before drawing a circle on my nose and filling it in. "Times up!" Brian called out. "What did you draw?" I asked curiously, although I had an idea. She smirked, "You make an adorable pussy...cat."

With a sigh, I shook my head at her silliness. She snagged the note again, quickly doodling a picture of two people, obviously a boy and a girl. I laughed to myself as she made the boy's neck and shoulders look like the Incredible Hulk. She drew crowns on each figure's head and wrote "Prom King and Queen?" I rolled my eyes. Then she wrote "Isaac + Tru" under the picture and slipped it back to me with a giggle. She was killing me!
