There was a tall, blocky man with a jagged golden crown, a woman wearing an oversized silver tiara, a small blob representing a little boy, a giant black dog with six legs, a glowing stick figure surrounded by yellow loops, and a final girl drawn with aggressively angry V-shaped eyebrows. Kael let out a long, dry sigh. "Let me guess. The one with the furious eyebrows is your long-lost aunt?"

"Group challenge. Everyone draws the person on their left, five minutes, no judging. Ryan's going to lose, obviously." "I build things. I don't draw them." He picked up the pencil anyway, already smirking. "Prepare to be amazed regardless." The next half hour dissolved into giggling chaos — Mia's rendering of Aria's jaw was unnervingly accurate; Aria's version of Ryan turned him into a cartoon superhero wielding a hammer; Ryan's attempt at Eve came out so wildly out of proportion that she laughed until her ribs hurt. Tabitha’s POV We take turns sketching across the stone wall, passing the marker back and forth. We layer over each other’s drawings like we’re trying to outdo the last. Reed snickers while drawing an alien with three eyes and a meteor shaped like a dick. And then, there’s also something he claims is a “space wolf,” which I honestly think is quite cute. It’s the only decent thing he drew. We keep laughing until my stomach hurts and I’m wiping tears from my eyes. I lean over the narrow window to catch my breath.

“I don’t know how to draw. This isn’t working.” Darryl buries his face in his hands in frustration as he lets Goldie stare at his chicken scratch scribbles on the notepad. He had spent around two hours trying to draw a man shoving Goldie’s head into a bucket of water, but he can’t quite figure out the anatomy and physics behind it. Goldie tosses the notepad back to him and gives him a thumbs-up, only to receive a scowl from the other male.

"That doesn't look like nothing, honey." He bit his lip and lowered his head. I stepped farther into the room and sank onto the couch. Leaning closer to him, I whispered, "You missed a spot." His eyes lit up. I pointed at the brown marker on the floor. "Draw something for me too." His grin turned wicked as he leaned over Aiden's forehead and, with extreme dedication, drew a large, mistakeable poop on it. I had to clap a hand over my mouth to muffle the laugh, shaking my body.

It was a stick figure with massive shocked eyes. Lucian choked on a laugh. I couldn’t help it either. Even Adrian stopped walking, shoulders tensing, like he could feel the laughter hitting him from behind. He turned halfway toward us, eyes narrowing. “What are you laughing at?” Arian held up the drawing proudly. Adrian stared. Cassian fell sideways out of his chair. Lucian wheezed. Arianna patted Arian’s head. “Excellent work.” Adrian took a slow, deep breath — the kind that meant he was mentally counting to ten thousand.
