The pale moonlight had grown thin and faint, and the mountain was still wrapped in poor visibility and bitter cold. One of Gavin’s arms was bleeding. He knelt on the rocky slope, gripping a tool with both hands as he worked with the bodyguards to pry away the rocks pinning Chris and Winter down. With a heavy rumble, the rock finally shifted. “Mr. Xander!” Gavin shouted. Chris lay facedown, his body still curved protectively around Winter. But even after Gavin called his name, Chris gave no response. Gavin’s face tightened. “Get down there!” he ordered.

Deep inside… It terrified her. Draven noticed the hesitation instantly. His smile returned slowly. “Oh,” he whispered. “There it is.” Chris’s power exploded outward violently. The ground beneath them cracked slightly under the force of his rage. “Touch her again,” Chris snarled, voice no longer fully human, “and I will tear your heart out.” Several rogues visibly recoiled. Even Draven’s expression sharpened with interest. Then suddenly Tyler drove his elbow backward into the rogue holding him. Chaos erupted instantly. Chris lunged forward as his pack shifted immediately.

She charged forward alongside Xavier, their hearts beating in sync as they fought off wave after wave of Drax’s forces. “Xenith!” a deep voice echoed through the chaos, sending chills down Xienma’s spine. It was Drax, his shadowy figure emerging from the mist, a sinister grin twisting his scarred face. “You think you can stand against me? I will reclaim what is mine!” “Not if we can help it!” Xavier growled, his wolf form bristling as he faced Drax head-on. Cassie took a step back, focusing on the Water Stone. “Xienma! Xenon sat up, watched Chris for a bit, and asked icily with a sneer, "Who are you, may I ask?" Chris extended his hand for a handshake and smiled an exceptionally charming smile, "Chris, Chris Butler. A p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to meet you, Mr. Xenon Uba. I'm new to City X, your territory. Hope you welcome new guests." Xenon shook his hand and replied with a smile, "Ha, Mr. Chris Butler. What an honor to finally meet you in person. You've surely brought some disturbance to Las Vegas. I was starting to get worried."

The sound cracked sharply, ugly. Chris tried to swing back, but Xander caught his arm and twisted. Chris shouted in pain. His voice was weak compared to the growl that rose from Xander’s chest. Xander’s glowing eyes burned hotter. His sharp teeth showed as he snarled. He punched again. And again. Chris’s face turned red, then purple, then blue and black with bruises blooming. I covered Star’s eyes with my hand. “Don’t look, baby,” I whispered, my voice shaking.

Kyaria replies quietly. Wait, she is not a model. She didn’t even want this job but did it as a favor for her friend. I look at her and I can see the nervous look on her face. “Do you know who I am?” I ask. “You are Jaidyn Matthews, and you are Crazy’s lead guitarist.” She answers. “Before yesterday I had no idea who any of you were. I knew who the band was and your music but not what any of you guys looked like.” She says.

“I mean – what exactly do you want me to do?” He settled back in his seat. “Shanna told me you once dated Derek Kane.” My face froze. I could feel every individual muscle straining to keep my smile in place. Shit. Please God, not this. Anything but this. Derek Kane was currently the hottest thing going in rock. And not just because his band had three singles currently in the top 20, with ‘If There’s A Next Time’ poised to hit number one in the next week or two. No. He was also the most gorgeous guy to front a rock band since Jim Morrison.

He roars his long legs getting him closer to the door in a few seconds. Chris who looks rather alarmed goes over to him using his speed. But when he reaches out for Xavier, he's pushed aside, his body colliding with the wall in the far corner. I gasp, looking over at Chris. Chris groans, wincing when he tries to move. Not knowing what to do I stay rooted where I am completely terrified and stunned. I turn to stare at Xavier's rigid back. I watch Xavier leave the room in a hast, snarling as he went by. It didn't make sense. What the hell was going on?
