Rockstar

I was halfway to my cousin's work when it started raining hard.  Figures, this seems to be the type of luck I have had recently.  The last two years have been terrible and emotionally draining.  My ex-fiance decided to take a job in France a week before we were to get married.  While that would be a good thing, it wasn’t.  He decided not to tell me that he was doing this.  I found out when I called his sister and she told me what he did.  He completely blindsided me.  I knew his parents didn’t like me so I was not surprised that they never said anything to me.  Thankfully his sister and I were friends so she told me everything.  Apparently, he had also cheated on me.  That was a year and a half ago.  These last six months have been better.

I was taking my cousin lunch because if I didn’t she probably wouldn’t have eaten. I had cooked her some homemade chicken enchiladas.  Thank god the food couldn’t get wet.  I, on the other hand, am completely soaked.  I finally made it to the building where she works.  Stephan, the receptionist looks at me and starts laughing.  I am sure I looked like a drowned rat.  I look down and yup my shirt is transparent and my baby blue bra is on display.  I just shrug my shoulders.  There is nothing I can do about it.  I take the elevator up to her floor and get off.  It sounded quiet so I let myself in only to see she was not alone.  There are three people.  Two men and a woman sitting across from my cousin Evie. 

“Sorry Evie I didn’t hear anyone but you talk so I thought you were alone,”  I tell her.

“It’s fine Kyaria.  We are almost finished.”  Evie answers with a smile. 

I stand at the end of the table and place her lunch on it.  I am trying to stay quiet and not disturb their meeting.  I look up only to be met with a pair of dark brown eyes with golden-green flakes sprinkled in them.  I shake my head and the guy smirks.  I notice he is giving me a very thorough eye-fucking.  The guy is so gorgeous.  It really should be illegal for a guy to be this gorgeous.  He’s tall with curly black hair.  He stands up and his shirt shows off his muscular arms and washboard abs.  His jeans fit his muscular legs perfectly.  The leather jacket just adds to his bad boy look.  All I can get myself to do being faced with this god-like man is to smile at him.  I notice his eyes keep traveling down and I am sure he is looking at my baby blue bra through my transparent shirt. 

The three of them leave and I finally release a breath that I didn’t even know I was holding in.  What the hell, my entire mind just shut down.  Not exactly the best first impression.  I am used to seeing ridiculously attractive people in Evie’s office.  She owns her own modeling agency.  

“You walked here in the rain?”  Evie asks.

“Kinda, the rain started when I was halfway there,”  I answer.

“Is that lunch?”  Evie asks.

I just smile and push the container towards her.  I hear her let out an appreciative groan when she takes the first bite.  I want to ask about the guy, but I know that if I show any interest she will have me set up on a date.  The last time she set me up with one of her models it didn’t go well.  The guy was expecting a model, not a regular girl like me.  Her phone starts ringing and she picks it up.

“I need to take this.”  She says to me.

I wave her off.  I know she is working and I am not offended that she picked up the call.  I pick up one of the magazines that litter her office and start flipping through it.  I notice the tone of her voice changes.

“Ok, yes I understand,”  Evie says to the other person.

“Really, yes I can make it happen,”  Evie adds.

I tilt my head and look at her.  I can see a surprised look on her face.  When she hangs up a huge grin stretches across her face.  She is looking at me and I am mildly concerned.  I don’t like the look on her face.

“That was Gabby.”  She tells me.

“Ok,”  I reply.

“I am guessing she was the woman here with hottie #1 and hottie #2.”  I say to her.

“Yes, she is the assistant to Brady, hottie #2.  They manage the band Crazy.”  Evie explains.

I know who that band.  They are one of the biggest rock bands.  I have been a fan since they released their first album five years ago.  I look at her.  I am not sure why she is smiling at me. 

“They were here because the model they had chosen for a video bailed on them.  Gabby knew they were gonna be in town so they swung by here to look at some of my models.” Evie tells me.

“Ok, and this matters to me because?”  I ask.

“Please pay attention Kyaria, you just met Jaidyn Matthews.  He is Crazy’s lead guitarist.”  She explains.

Well, that explains a lot.  Damn, he was hot.  I was totally lost in his eyes and I would love to run my hands up and down that solid chest and those rock hard abs.  I am still confused as to what any of this has to do with me.  I am actually starting to worry because of the shit-eating grin on her face.

“Gabby just called to cancel the model that they had picked out.”  She says.

“That sucks for you,”  I tell her.

She grabs my face to make me look at her.  She has lost her mind.  I can’t help her.  She might be my cousin and best friend but I am not model material.

“They canceled because Mr. Rockstar wants you to act as his girlfriend in Crazy’s new video.”  She explains.

Excuse me, what the actual fuck.  Me, Kyaria Rogers.  I am no model, why in the hell would he want me?  I am nothing special.  Evie continues to tell me about the video shoot and when it is.  I still can’t wrap my mind around why he would choose me.  I am no model and I have never done anything like that before.  Somehow Evie talks me into doing the video.  She calls Gabby back to tell her that I will do it.  I still haven’t said anything and I am not sure what I would say.  What in the hell just happened? 

Evie gives me a ride home since it is still raining out.  She follows me up to my apartment.  She looks around, I already know what she is thinking.   Yes, it’s small, but it is only me so I don’t need anything big.  I am still in shock over what happened earlier.  Why in the hell would a famous rock star want plain old me?  He literally can have any woman he wants.  None of this makes sense.
