She decided to stop at the coffee shop and ordered two mocha frappes just the way she liked it: extra espresso and no whip cream; one for herself and one for her best friend. The slow drive up to the window gave her mind time to wander. She thought about the last few nights. Her dreams had been wild. She recalled one in particular that played in her dreams a few times over the last two years; three owls. They flew to her, resting on her arms and shoulder. She could recall it was all immensely powerful. They sat on her until she was ready to move, and once she started to walk down the dirt path barefoot, the owls followed her on the journey, one always leading the way.

Soon, a guard kicked my stomach, making it hard for me to breathe. I held my stomach protectively, and Please be okay baby, please be alright. The guard moved towards me again and kicked my stomach hard. I watched as blood pooled down my legs as they all laughed around me. With teary eyes, I glanced at Enzo and Dante, who stared at me laughing. In the dream, I was powerless again, unable to escape their grasp, and this time, they killed my baby. The guard who had kicked my stomach walked towards me again with a sickening smile, “There goes your poor baby. You weren't even able to protect your child.” He laughed louder than before as they all surrounded me, suffocating me.

But after a night at Magnolia, everything felt sharper, harsher, like I'd traded air for smoke. The resort still lingered on my skin, the salt of the sea, the echo of her laughter when she thought I wasn't listening, the weight of her silence when she was remembering her mother. I walked through the glass doors of Dankworth & Co., the familiar scent of polished wood and paper contracts replacing the ocean breeze. My staff straightened at once, greetings whispered like ripples. I barely nodded. My mind wasn't on them.

She answered. “How come you don’t have a choice?” I asked her. “Mom got me into a scholarship there since she knew it’s my long-time dream to be in Paris.” She answered. “Where’s the Jaiden spirit?” Connor asked. “Think of it this way.” Connor said. “Remember the times you told us about how you dreamed of waking up there, finding your lover there, etc.” He added. “Take it as an opportunity.” “Connor’s right.” I agreed. “Who knows when you will achieve that dream.” I said. “Always remember that we’re here for you.”
