REJECTED MATE
Each time I glanced up, he leaned forward and inhaled a deep breath.
“What?” I asked.
“You’re intoxicating,” he said as I took a sip of red wine. “And you belong at my side, not at his.”
I spluttered on my mouthful. “What kind of wolf god doesn’t respect the sanctity of mates?”
“I never said I was a wolf god.”
“But—”
“Most of my brethren have animal heads but that doesn’t mean we’re nature spirits.”
My brows rose. His brother, Anubis, had the head of a jackal, but he was the Egyptian god of mummification and death. No one ever referred to him as a canine.
