Gael studied him for a second, then looked back at his phone. “That’s Amira. She’s a friend.” He replied.
The way Gael said the word ‘friend’ was too plain. And Logan had been in enough locker rooms, played alongside enough guys, to understand the difference between friend and friend. The word sat there between them with a specific weight to it, the kind that didn’t need explaining.
“Friend,” Logan repeated.
“Yes, friend.” Gael set his phone down on his knee and looked at him directly now. “We’ve known each other for a while.”
