Any other morning and he would have. "You all right?" Patrick's expression hardened a little as his eyebrows furrowed. "Yes, just a lot on my mind, but nothing I’m willing to discuss.” Damon nodded as James walked toward them. "Of course, boss. Just know I'm here if you do." "Thanks." Damon took the putter from James and smiled. "You're not going to win this one, my friend." "The story of my life." He laughed as they passed. "The only success I have is Zarpeth, and it's started to crack at the seams too."

For the first time, he felt a strong urge to speak with Sarah, but he did not know what to say. “Did Charlotte confess?” he asked. “That has nothing to do with you.” James moved his lips, but he still could not help reminding her, “I know I’m no longer qualified to warn you about anything, but be careful of Nick Paterson. He works for Aaron Hernandez.” Just then, Zachary walked over and looked at James impatiently. He had only gone to the director’s office for a short while. How had this man suddenly appeared? “Mr. Chancer. What a coincidence,” he said with a cold laugh.

Of course it's a James Patterson. "I didn't take you for Patterson man." I lean back on the couch readjusting myself and opening my Kindle again. This could work. A girl must always keep hope. Hudson shrugs, sitting back in the chair. He tosses his feet up on my coffee table and gets comfy. "Some of his plot points aren't so far-fetched. Now shhhh," he shooshes me with one finger across his lips. "I got into a good part on the plane."

Watched the door. Patrick arrived seven minutes late, which was exactly how Patrick had always operated — close enough to on time that you couldn't complain, late enough to remind you that his schedule was the primary one. He looked good. The years had settled into him well, sharpening the boyish into something more deliberate. He wasn't alone. James walked in behind him. I felt the recognition land before I could decide what to do with it. James Williams. Patrick's younger brother, two years below us in school, notorious even then for the specific brand of careless confidence that beautiful people sometimes develop when they've never had to try very hard at anything.

“Enough of this gloom. We’re having a game night.” And so we did. Me, Laura, Sophia, and Jay, who had dropped by. Henry and Liam weren’t home, still consumed with their endless updates and investigations. The rest of us gathered for charades, and before long the room was alive with laughter. My sides hurt from watching Laura’s dreadful acting while Sophia mocked her every move. Then the front door opened. Liam and Henry walked in together. “Good news,” Liam announced, his eyes finding mine. “Cassie’s killer has been arrested.”

James said with a very evil smile on his face. “Of course sir, I'll do just that and also sir, I've also sent you some photos from my men that are tailing Anna and Dylan, look them over, I think you'll like what you see there.” Patrick told James and then he hung up the call. James booted up his laptop and then opened his email, he saw the email from Patrick, it was the first one the list. He opened it up and clicked on the attachment. There were pictures of Anna and Dylan at the mall, nothing looked out of the ordinary until James realised that he wasn't just looking at only Anna and Dylan, there was someone else in between them, a little girl.

I heard the footsteps coming from both sides of me, but I didn’t care. They were about to grab me when a voice came through. “Enough.” It was just one word. But the room went silent immediately. The crowd parted. And through it walked a man in a black suit. There was power in his every step. Jesse Black. Rumor had it he was old money, with new power—his fortune rooted in global real estate, tech empires, and the kind of offshore accounts you couldn’t trace. Some said he had ties to the mafia. Others said his background was worse. No one dared confirm it nor did anyone dare to ask. I wondered what he was doing in such an event like this but I didn’t have much time to think.

But I wish she would understand my views, my feelings and choices and respect them too as I do hers. My next move after sending her my poem will be to wait for her reactions and talk it over with her severally in a considerate and respectful way. After that I shall send her a copy of a novel. A book that I believe will further open her eyes to what I feel for Aisha and probably help me explain better, a book written by her beloved son. That book is what you have in you hands now, titled DIARY OF A PATRIOT.

Sera ran towards my place and I know she'll be scolding me. "You called me at 3 am in the morning and now you're late? Are you serious, Kira?" See? Told ya. My glance passed to Patry as I saw him grumpily crossing his arms. His black hair is down, wearing gray skinny jeans and an open one button polo shirt. This guy should be illegal! He's too hot to handle! I almost got a heart attack when he caught me staring at him. He arched his brows again, "Why are you making us wait like you're so important?"
