"I'm fine," Jonathan muttered, sliding into the seat next to her. He smelled like cold air and pavement. "I saved the drive. That's all that matters."
"You look like you fell off a mountain," she whispered back, handing him a tissue to wipe his face.
"I've had worse mornings," he said, giving her a quick, tired wink.
On stage, Adrian had stopped talking. He was staring at Jonathan with an expression of pure disgust. Dr. Harrison cleared his throat. "Finish your presentation, Mr. Matthews."
