Then you've got Mary and Yumeko, which is the classic, pure rivalry fuel. They're both geniuses, but Mary's whole thing is control and calculated risk, while Yumeko operates on pure, unadulterated intuition and thrill. Watching them try to outmaneuver each other is like seeing two different philosophies of gambling clash. The intensity comes from their mutual respect buried under all that competitive fury; they're probably each other's only true equals in the entire academy, which makes every interaction electric.

I'd also throw in Kirari and Sayaka, though it's shaded with devotion more than rivalry on Sayaka's side. But Kirari constantly testing Sayaka, pushing her to her limits and watching her struggle—that's a power imbalance rivalry. Sayaka's desperate to prove herself worthy, and Kirari seems to get a kick out of that struggle.
