Novel & Cerita Ladybug Watching

The night sounds are so much louder around me, filling my ears, now that I’m on the ground level. “Dawny is so full of life.” I stop and just listen, taking in all the sounds. No, it’s more than that. I realize. Dawny seems to always bustle with life and energy. “Oh!?” I gasp, opening my eyes to catch a lightning bug pass. It’s a lazy flight, drifting to almost touch me, but missing, by just a hair. And then another follows, but giving more space this time. I watch them go, before seeing there are more. The night is buzzing with them.

I had nothing left but shards to try to glue. Coming from the side garden through the wide window, a vivid ladybug landed on my hairbrush. For a fleeting moment, I observed the red that painted the insect, its wings opening as she prepared to take off, and when she left, I took a look at the head of my bed, where a sticker with that same insect was.

Birds chirped softly from the trees. Insects buzzed gently in the background. From time to time, the distant cry of a wild animal echoed through the woods. The wind moved through the trees, making the leaves sway in a slow, steady rhythm. Everything felt calm and peaceful. Alive.. Olivia sat by the window, completely drawn to the view outside. Her eyes were bright with curiosity as she watched everything outside, the birds flying from branch to branch, a deer running quickly between the trees, the sunlight touching the ground.

If only I were one of those people who could lose themselves within the pages of a book. Every now and then a strange sensation would crawl up my spine. It felt as though I were being watched—eyes lavishing my skin with intent. What intent, I wasn’t sure, but it was unsettling, nonetheless. At some point, the warmth spilling in from the window became much too cozy, and I’d drifted off to sleep. When my eyes snapped open, the sun had begun drifting down the horizon. Gone were the graceful butterflies, replaced with what appeared to be lightning bugs buzzing back and forth. Only, instead of glowing with a yellow light, they seemed to change colors at will.

It was the first time she felt the man she admired was so spineless, afraid even of a bug. "Keegan, don't tease me. I'm really scared of bugs. Please get rid of it quickly." Keegan said, "Jaylene, don't move. It might crawl into your clothes." Jaylene's back stiffened, the hand holding the teapot trembling uncontrollably. Drops of water splashed on the back of her hand, stinging painfully, her eyes turning red. Sipping her coffee casually, Stella remarked, "Is it a locust? Or a dung beetle? I've never seen such a big bug in all my life."

“Mommy, look! I caught a Monarch!” I made my way over, watching as she crouched, carefully holding the net with one hand so the butterfly couldn’t escape while she opened her bug cage with the other. Then, she gently cupped her hands around the butterfly and moved it to the cage. “Wow, Nora,” I said, crouching down as she closed the cage. The Monarch butterfly within seemed utterly unbothered, lazily opening and closing its wings as its little antennae roved about. Most small animals and even insects were like that around Nora; it was as if they could sense her gentle nature.
