The shouting rang out along with the alarms and the roar of the emergency water pumps kicking on. From a distance, high up on a hill, Lorenzo watched through a pair of binoculars. “You’re sure the collapse won’t spread?” he asked the young man beside him, who looked like Dr. Pietro’s copy pasted brother. “No, Alpha Lorenzo. If the explosives went off in the areas I marked, only one side of the mine will collapse, and it’ll bury the entrance to the other tunnels.” Lorenzo nodded, satisfied, as he looked at Dr. Pietro’s surveyor brother. He’d hired him for this operation.

I ask and they nod. “We go a way back. We are business partners.” I frown at that. I look a lot like mom. Surely they could tell the remembrance. “How long ago have you met them?” “The old man was every year. We have not met the rest of them in years.” They are fuming when I tell them what Jesse and Stela told me. “The old bastard knew who you were. I bet he wanted you to have a child with his ass of a grandson before telling us that he found you,” Kanye, my older brother says angrily, but I still don’t get what was in it for the old man.

He tried to argue that what we had would be different, because he was nothing like my husband. The Marín de la Cruz brothers are utterly different in their manners, yet when I look more closely I find many similarities. Both are dominant men, capable of doing anything so as not to lose what they want. Both are controlling and would like to control me one hundred percent. Those are the main points, but there are many more.

Who is Andre Castillo? "I knew that him and Zac were roommates-" I start before getting cut off. "But you didn't know about the mountain of evidence that we found within the apartment connecting the two of them to the Los Angeles crime family as well as the Cosa Nostra?" She questions. My eyes widen in complete shock as I hear the words escape from her lips. Los Angeles crime family? The Cosa Nostra? "What? No?! " I start. The woman clicks her tongue, shaking her head at my words as she finds my ignorance unbelievable.

Bones doesn't say a word, but his eyes land on me—and stay there. I look away fast, bile crawling up my throat. God, he's so fucking creepy. My brother exhales sharply. "There's more." The room tightens again. Even the air feels heavier. "We've confirmed that Vince Stone—our most recent prospect—was a plant sent by the same stupid fucker. He was working with the Mexican mafia. Hit both us and the Serpents. He was probably trying to trigger a war to distract us...long enough to snatch Alyssa."

"Yes,that’s me. Things are about to get interesting,I suppose.” Surprised by the unexpected connection, I pressed for more information. "So, the brother you're suing is your twin, Cameron?" Kaden nodded again, a smirk playing on his lips. “Fuck yeah." Cameron's eyes darkened, and he retorted, "You're going to lose the case, just like you always do. A born loser." “You are just simply a pained motherfucker,” Kaden shrugged. Their father, Dan, intervened, attempting to diffuse the tension. "Boys, let’s not ruin the evening with legal matters. Focus on the food, everyone,shall we?”

I’d had enough of that in my younger years, after all. “We’re step-siblings,” I answered, voice weak but enough for them to hear. “Step-siblings?” another girl spoke, scoffing. “As if we’d believe you. What kind of ploy are you up to? The Lancaster triplets are notorious Alphas here in the university, and they were known for flirting and fucking anybody, no matter who they are, as long as they match their standards. Is that some kind of kink or what?” I frowned. What kind of nonsense is she talking about? And why would I fake being a step-sibling with the triplets?

“This is my current home address here in London and below that is my phone number. Since you already have your phone back, you can just call me or go straight to this address whenever you want to meet or need something.” Levana took the paper and thanked him. She had a feeling she would eventually need his help one day even though she still wasn’t quite sure what for. “By the way, Levana, there is one thing I want to discuss with you.” Edmund’s expression turned serious. “What is it, brother?” She tilted her head in curiosity. “Those two men who helped you, the brothers, their names are Kilian and Maximus, right?” He asked. Levana nodded, confirming it.

"You're always too idealistic, Ethan. Just think about it. We're not hurting anyone. It's a simple bet, a game." Reluctance warred within Ethan as he weighed his brother's words against his own principles. In the end, he sighed, realizing the extent of Alex's determination. "Fine, Alex. But remember, we're treading dangerous ground here. We must proceed with caution and ensure no harm comes to her." With a triumphant grin, Alex extended his hand, sealing their agreement. "Deal, Ethan. Let the game begin."
