Louis, usually composed, followed her, her lips parting in awe. Mirabel’s face softened as she took a step toward them, her guarded expression giving way to something raw, something vulnerable. A tear slipped down her cheek as she smiled softly, reaching out to embrace the friends she had missed so dearly. Mirabel took a bottle of water from the table beside the couch, uncapped it, and then gulped it down, she stood up and walked to the bathroom, returning a few minutes later after she had brushed her teeth and also rinsed her face.
