When I arrived at college the next day, all of the students were gathered on the terrace for the annual party. I was decked in a lovely red gown that reached my knees. My hair was straight, and I kept it open. I wore minimal makeup because I didn't like it. When I approached Nora and Amir, they both hugged me. We began talking, and thankfully, they did not inquire as to why I had returned home the day before. They went to the dance floor; they asked me as well, but I declined. I was smiling at them as they danced; they looked so good together.

Angel’s POV Ace seemed torn, caught between the darkness that enveloped him and my offer. His voice cracked as he spoke, "But what if I never get better? What if I'm stuck like this forever?" I drew a deep breath, my voice filled with determination. "Ace, I won't pretend to have all the answers, but what I do know is that there are professionals who specialize in helping people like you navigate through this darkness. They have the tools, the knowledge, and the experience to guide you towards a path of healing. We have to believe that there is hope, that there is a chance for you to find peace and happiness once again."

She said with a smile so I nodded. We were now in front of a large door that I think is the entrance door. "Are you ready Ms. Konzet?" She asked while smiling and looking at me. "Ready." I said. Slowly the big golden door opened and I was almost stunned when I saw inside. From the center is placed a gold fountain with the design of the Vampire high logo. There are butterflies flying accompanied by some people with the ability to fly. There are students who walk and have fun chatting, there are students running and playing, there are those who use their power and there are nerds who just read a book.

My reflection in the glass didn’t look like mine at all—my eyes glowed faintly, my lips parted as though whispering a name I didn’t remember learning. The wards trembled. The Academy was stitched together with old magic, its bones laced with the founders’ blood, its heart bound by runes carved into the earth itself. I could feel them now, those invisible threads, wrapping around towers and classrooms, dormitories and hidden stairwells. They quivered under the storm’s weight. And under me. My hand pressed against the glass, and in the flash of lightning, the glass spiderwebbed with cracks. The door behind me opened with a low groan.

She was arriving at one of the most significant parties of Shadowbrook Academy with Lucian Umbra, prince of the demon kingdom and the fallen angel of the academy. The rumors and gossip about their relationship were only going to intensify. She sighed, as if she wasn’t popular enough already. But that was actually the least of her worries. Tonight was full of mystery. She thought of all the questions that had been circling in her mind since the meeting: who were the inside enemy? What was their plan for the party? Would the party end in chaos? And then there was the drama she was to act with Vyr. Would she act the kissing scene successfully without fumbling?

Rebecca’s POV MY DAY STARTED like a normal day – well other than the umbrella incident. Ibarra was also the same. He was just silently sitting on his chair while listening to our teacher. I found my umbrella opened at the back of the room together with the other umbrellas. I somehow felt thankful that he left it to dry. Yep, thankful – despite the fact that he snatched it away. Thought my day would continue as it was until Ginny spoke to me with great concern. I already felt it that she wanted to talk about something but she was just trying to stop herself.
