Chapter 2 Meet my Hell The rest 0f the bus ride is silent, except for the occasional loud murmur coming from the rest of the people on the bus. I stare out of the window, looking at all the other cars and houses whizzing past. We just got into the neighbourhood my school is in, and you can practically see the socioeconomic differences. I live in a more rundown part of the city, it’s not dangerous enough to be called ghetto but it’s not safe enough for an early morning run (if you understand what I’m saying).

The community inside New City, compared to the other cities all over Central Continent, is that, it is very tight knit. Moreover for the people that lived and worked in harmony together. Due to so many races lived together, everyone mostly friendly with each others, all thanks to the prosperity of Aeternum itself. Everyone cared about their neighbour and friends, rarely there’s an occasion of separation in the community or even large dispute. So when a sudden movement of a large group of people just suddenly happened, there were a lot people that would take notice about it.

I had a new roommate. Strange noises always came from his room at night. Plus, there was always a strong foul stench, even on him. Every time he walked past me, I needed to cover my nose. I always thought that he often brought his girlfriend home to have fun all night long, but I never once saw his girlfriend. The noises irked me to no end. Even putting on noise-cancelling earphones did not help. Did he bring his girlfriend home again this time?

She kind of looked familiar but since I couldn’t see the picture up close, I couldn’t identify her. I wanted to ask him about it but that would be awkward. However, for some reason, knowing he had a special someone in his heart made me feel strange. Lucas drove us to an unfamiliar, modest neighbourhood. We drove through narrow roads that were congested with a lot of people walking around. It was lively– almost as if it were still daytime. It seemed people here never stayed indoors unlike the neighbourhood where I grew up, where each neighbour lived thousands of square meters apart. I looked around, my eyes lighting up with curio

I pull out of the garage and wait for the door to close before heading down the long driveway. My neighbor, Ray, is grabbing his garbage bin as I pull onto the street. I wave and tell myself to swing by when I get home to thank him for getting my mail while I was gone. Ray has always been a reliable neighbor. He isn’t overly chatty, which I like, and he’s always willing to lend a hand when I need it. I chose this neighborhood because of its location. I like being far enough away from London to have privacy, but close enough to get into the city quickly. The neighbors around here keep mostly to themselves. We look after one another’s property, the events that took place last night with Jason

We walk for a while , side by side, fingers still interlaced. We left the busy part of the street a while back, I think the club is what brings this area to life at night. Otherwise, it's just a few houses and a few restaurants. We make a turn, and i instantly notice a difference. Here, it's quieter, and there are more houses around than businesses. It looks like a housing neighbourhood.

He gave her a keen look and said "If it's any assurance, you look beautiful and you're going to do good". The smile Lorraine sent back was ethereal and he turned his attention back on the road and concentrated on his driving. A few moments later, the driver cornered around the block into a different neighbourhood. From the houses on the street, Lorraine could see the resemblance to Eden. It was an upscale neighbourhood with spaced mansions, evergreen trees on either side of the sidewalks with its police force and a crime watch co-op.

Niel instructed him while staring at Haylee from afar. Ben nodded in compliance and got into his car again, driving away from the area immediately. Niel scanned the surrounding. There weren't many people around the area. It was a shabby neighbourhood. Somehow, he felt like he couldn't believe that Haylee used to live in such a neighbourhood before. Now, that he came back to that place again, he felt heavy to let Haylee return to such a place.

Especially when they may come back. We didn’t live in the best of areas. It was difficult to find a decently priced apartment close to the city that we could afford. But, thankfully, when we did find one, the neighbors were so sweet and friendly, and looked out for us. Mainly because we were so much younger than the majority of them.

Building anything there would be great because of the view and closeness of the city center. It’s perfect, but it’s also highly problematic and that’s why no one has ever tried to control that area. The neighborhood is very peaceful, quiet, and old, and everyone knows everyone there. Trying to send someone to spy on Adriano and his men would be complicated—although not impossible—and he’s making his moves right from his territory. He’s only crossed over a little bit so far, but I’m sure he’s going to expand.
