I sighed and slummed my back to my headboard in defeat. THE COFFEE shop Maj chose for us was like transporting back to the ‘80s where comic books were popular. It had cozy couches, vintage car decor, and classic coffee machines which they should be displayed in the museum instead. The aroma of lattes, sugar, roasted hazelnuts, and coffee beans made the place more we were like in the street of Paris or Italy. I chose the table near the glass window where I could see her immediately after ordering my white chocolate latte that cost quarter my apartment lease.

Soren quickly agreed and sat again beside her, making it very obvious that he preferred sitting beside her than going to the counter. “Do you want anything?” Yana stood up and asked Soren. “I’m good, thanks,” he said. Yana then went to the counter. “Cafephany,” Maggie read the name of the coffee shop on the menu. “Nice name, so unique. Was it yiut’s my idea and no, it doesn’t pertain to the religious epiphany, it’s about the sudden realization of great things,” Soren said, smiling. “Usually, especially, in my case, epiphany happens to ne while I’m having coffee. I mean, I think of great ideas while I’m drinking coffee. And I’m sure it happens to a lot of people, too.”

Drew teased me as he tried to erase the creases in my forehead. “And what does sharing my thoughts with you have anything to do with me growing old fast?” I retorted. She ground the beans, trying to recall the texture Claire had described. She measured the coffee carefully, remembering that Bentley didn't like sugar. She frothed the milk, hoping she was doing it right. After what felt like an eternity, the coffee was ready. Nova poured it into a cup, her heart beating slightly. She carried it to Bentley's office, each step amplifying her anxiety. The tension in the office was palpable, and her heart pounded in her chest.
