Within minutes, a helicopter rushed him to the nearest hospital.
Inside the aircraft, his face was deathly pale, his blood-soaked shirt clinging to his skin, the crimson stain spreading across his side.
Yet, even as his body weakened, his gaze never wavered from me.
"Elaine… I… I love you."
Each word trembled, as if it took every ounce of strength left in him to say them.
Daniel gripped my hand tightly, forcing a weak smile.
"If I survive this… give me a chance. Let me spend the rest of my life making up for these past three years, okay?"
