The Good Lie Ar Torre Novels & Stories

His eyes moved up to me, "now that you are married to Delano, you can tell us why you tried to kill him at the party, can't you?" Everyone stared at me. His cousins and their parents, Colt and my father, even Delano. He has an expectant look on his face, like he wanted to see what I would use to cover up–but I wasn't stupid. Anyone could tell that D'Leonardo already knows the truth. "He did business on my father's port, which is totally unacceptable," I said fiercely and I could see one of his cousins raised his eyes up, a smirk on his lips. I didn't care much about him. He seemed too stupid for me to bother. My age, maybe.

"When I handed Jil over to you, you promised to love and protect her. Have you forgotten? Only a few years in, and this is what we get! We may be old, but we're not dead!" Harvey dared not cry out in pain and only grunted softly every time the spatula struck. He wanted to explain himself, only to open his mouth and close it again. "Just go. We don't want you getting hurt and blaming it on us later." Holding the spatula, Dad was about to close the door when Harvey, who had stayed silent the whole time, lunged forward and jammed his hand in the frame. "Please, let me talk to Jilian. I have something to tell her. I know that I've messed up, and I'm here to make things right. Please let me talk

ANDREW POV I was laying on my bed with my arm covering my eyes, trying to block out the mid-morning sun that was streaming through the window when my cell phone vibrate on the side, I groaned and rolled to the side, stretching my arm out to reach for it. "Hello," I muttered into the phone "Am I speaking to Andrew Pozo" "Who are you?" I rudely asked "This is Michael Romasanta, I have a job for you, meet me at lake city in an hour and I will explain everything to you.”

"Do the test. If she's ours, she goes. If she's not take her and keep her. I'll leave my pack's honor in your hands." There was a tiredness in him I couldn't place. Not the theatrical weariness of con men, but something older, like a man carrying a family's shame on his shoulders. He said the words as if he expected me to understand the weight. I clocked the lie and the truth in equal measure. Tori had told me she was abandoned. An orphanage, nobody who wanted her. That was the story she lived by. The idea that she was the firstborn of an alpha-some Alpha Matthew of the Black Moon-slotted into place like a jagged shard. It was possible but dangerous still.

“Once a high school senior with nothing but ambition. He clawed his way to the top with underhanded tricks, built an empire off bribes. He smiles at me, but if he had the chance, he’d stab me in the back.” “Oh?” Amira blinked. “And yet he’s here.” His lips curved faintly. “Keep your enemies where you can see them.” She followed his gaze to a tall, lean man sipping wine by the bar. “That one?” she asked. “Lucien Arroyo,” Montez said without hesitation. “Brilliant strategist. My board member. Useful, but slippery. He pretends loyalty, but he’s always watching and alculating.” “Sounds like you’re the one with trust issues.” She frowned. “Friends or foes, then?”

Louis suddenly called out, stopping me. He held out his hand to me, his tone condescending. "Hand over all the client files you have, as well as that multi-billion-dollar project you're currently working on. "These are company secrets. If you take them with you, it's illegal." I replied coldly, "All the files are on my computer. As for that collaborative project..." I looked down at the shredded documents on the floor and pointed at Flora. "She just tore it all to pieces." Hearing this, Flora immediately averted her eyes and leaned coyly into Louis's embrace, pouting.

His large frame was hunkered down in the corner of the room beside a small boy who was maybe eleven or twelve. He was the man who had asked what we will win. The boy beside him was visibly shaking, his face pale. The large man passed the boy his portion of cake we’d been given for dessert. “Take it,” the man said gently. Then he saw me watching him and motioned for me to come over. “That was very brave, what you did,” the man said. “I’m Tor. From District 5.” District 5 was the mining district, which would explain Tor’s muscular build.

“Sorry, I stole the Wrangler. You should have taken the key out.” “How are you feeling?” Zack climbed up at the back. “How did you find me?” “Alpha gives as an update, Shadow,” Tor said, coming to the passenger seat. “I should have turned off the GPS. Santi has done updating the system, has he?” “Yeah. It was cool, though. Way better than I can do.” Zack cleared his throat. “I’m sorry about what happened to your family.” “Thank you for healing me, Tor said, sounding grateful. "I didn’t know until tonight. That’s why the moment I thought I was drifting, I wasn’t healing. The next thing I know, I was sitting on the bed like nothing happened.”

She was rotten inside. But someone like her wouldn’t have the brains to pull this off on her own, especially getting hold of sulfuric acid. “Tell me, who put you up to this?” Stellar asked directly. Tori’s eyes widened, then she snapped through gritted teeth, “No one put me up to anything. I told you that I hate you. I wanted to hurt you. Isn’t that clear enough?” “You’re still lying.” Stellar had already sensed from her reaction that this wasn’t so simple.

Like he knows something she doesn’t, and its that exact feeling that makes her dislike him so much. “…break off whatever bond I share with Wayne Wright.” Wayne grunts and bends double. “It is not a major rejection anyway, so you will get over it. Sorry, but you made me do it.” Tori states as parting words. Whatever truth he knows now does not concern her in any way. And once again, she walks down the hall, skipping happily that she is pregnant and she has finally taken care of that creep.
